i have got thru pgdim and am dfntly joining nitie this june...i have a few general queries...seniors,kindly help me out..
1) What is the average monthly expenditure staying at nitie i.e: the average expenditures involved..??..(a rough idea will help)..
2)What additional belongings do i need to take with me to the hostel? Are laundry facilities available evryday??
3)An approximate academic calendar and whether there r any vacations as such??
4)Is there any formal institute blazer or any blazer will suffice??...How many do we require??
Pls do reply if possible, as based on the answers i shall have to make necessary arrangements bfore leaving...


1)Mess bill comes to around 2k per month
Everything else depends on you:)
On an average it should not cost you more than say Rs 50 per day.

2)->Lots of formal shirts, trousers
->Jeans , T-shirts
->pillow,Bed sheet
->Alarm Clock (or may be mobile will serve as one)
->a pair of formal Shoes
->Blazers,ties
->Medicines etc

Laundry facilities are available...we have the dhobi coming almost every day to the campus.

3)1st module - june 3rd week to sept mid

2nd module - sept 3/4rd week to dec 3rd week followed by 2 week holidays.

3rd module - 2nd week of jan to 1st week of april followed by summer internships.

4)There is no official insti blazer.
You can have it in any colour as long as it is black(or Blue)
Preferably plain,at least last year we were instructed specifically to get plain blazers.

I cleared IIM K through second admisson list and I am planning to go there...I was there on the first list in Nitie and i have deposited the DD. Please guide me so that i can get the refund. Should I write a mail to some one? Whats the process and how much refund i can expect?

Hi All...I need some help regarding the OBC NC certificate. During the GD/PI, I was told that certificate should be of central govt format. Can someone who's certificate was accepted share the format ?

I was also on the first list and I got my offer letter and acknowledgment of draft yesterday:biggrin: Delay in my case may be because of my address.

In both letter it is written that we have to report on 18th June(9:30 AM) to Academic office.

i had submitted the dd personally in the nitie office...got a letter (on the letterhead)..stating we r in receipt of ur dd..we r supposed to bring blah blah things & all that

is that the receipt they r going to send by post to every1?

bcoz i have applied for sbi scholar's loan scheme...and they r asking for a stamped receipt of Rs 1.3 lacs....

also has any1 applied for the same loan/ scheme...plz pm me...thx

you would be getting the stamped receipt of 1.3 lacs on the day of reporting...18 june i guess....it is this receipt tat u r required to submit to SBI for scholar loan....a SBI branch is ther @ NITIE campus itself and a representative would be comin to NITIE specifically for loan related queries by end june or so...the loan form, documents required etc would be clearly explained by him...so wait till then! 😃

Could someone guide me how to get fee refunded from Nitie? I mean what is the procedure we need to follow. . Phone, fax or we'll have to go there? I sent it on thursday. Anyother thing which i missed out pls guide me..

u can find the castes included in the central list of OBCs here : http://aieee.nic.in/ccb2008/Proforma%20for%20OBC.pdf

The OBC NC certificate has to be less than 6 months old as on the joining date (18 june, 2009) i.e it has to be issued after 18 december 2008....

Hi seniors... I have received my confirmation letter from NITIE. I just wanted to confirm that this is the only letter we will be receiving as receiving any new letters might be a problem because I have given my office address as my communication address and I am quitting this month end.. So if anybody could just confirm this....

actually there is a small problem...i have already applied for loan from the same sbi branch ard 2 weeks back...

most probably it will be sanctioned before 18th june...so i'l be requiring that receipt before 18th june...will i get it on request from nitie office before 18th june?
