I have a question for people who have already taken Level 2.
Do we need to send any proof of completion of undergraduate studies to the CFA Institute in order to register for Level 2?

First you should do 2 things ->
Don't expect that you will just get all information in one post.
1. Read this thread from beginning. It's important.
2. And, go through CFA Institute Home . Official website of CFAI. After this if you have any query, shoot it.
some doubts...
1. if i apply for June '09 and don't clear, can i use the same books of Dec '09 paper?
2.what about June '10?? will i need new books/material provided by CFA institute?
3. does the syllabus change year to year/ paper to paper?
thanks in advance....
I have just stared my preperations from the schweser notes (2009)...
1. just wanted to know are we suppose to study session by session in order, or u can pick up any SS?
2.are the later SS linked with early SS?
or
3. should one study a complete book at a time?
if so...
4. should one read the books in sequence also or any other will do?

I am planning to take the CFA L1 exam in Dec 2009. I am a s/w engineer from bangalore having a slight knowledge of finance because of the domain and company I work with. I am interested in pursuing a career in finance because of my interest in it. Welcome to PG,
To know more about things around here, just spend some more time. It's pretty easy.
About CFA, start reading this thread from beginning. Read at least first 40 pages. They are very helpful.
Second thing, I don't know how much time you spent on CFAI's website - CFA Institute Home, but everything is available there.
After going through this if you have any doubt shoot it. Some one would eventually answer your query.
One more thing, while writing the post please don't use sms lingo. It reduces readability of the forum.

Hi
As far as the material is concerned, I have refered both sschweser and stalla , and I found schweser to be better. Different people might have different views on this.
About job prospects, dude, nothing is guaranteed here. A lot depends on your past profile, the current industry requirement. For more info, please go thru some of my previous posts and posts by rajatb.
U could search this thread, It 'll be helpful.
@ all
Guys/Gals,
please start using the search function on this site more often. This thread already has most of the info u need. Everyone of us here is trying to help each other out by making an effort. Please do the same.
A humble request from my side:
Please dont post the same questions again and again.
Please dont take offense to this message as well.
Thanks
Akshat

Hey
Theres no particular order in which u need to study the syllabus. Whatever u are comfortable with. I assume u are preparing for level 1.
Depending on ur background/topic familiarity u could begin ur prep. Just make sure u give ample amt of time to ethics, preferably in the final stages of ur prep. u could begin with quants. Then move to coprorate finance. then do accounting, then economics, then derivatives and portfolio mangement. Save ethics for the last, as it requires a lot of cramming up to do.
Hope this helps. Some of my previous posts are more elaborate on this. Please search and refer.
Cheers
Akshat
