Gr8 News ...
8th june CFA now has Mumbai centre too !!
copy paste of the mail :-
Dear CFA candidate,
We are pleased to announce that we will open a test center in Mumbai for the 8 June 2008 CFA exam.
You are already confirmed to take the exam at a location outside of India. We understand that many candidates have made travel plans and will prefer to take the exam at their planned location. You are still permitted to take the exam at your planned location outside of India.
However, if you wish to take the CFA exam at the Mumbai test center on Sunday, 8 June 2008, please report to the venue by 8:00AM with your current June exam admission ticket. You do not need a new exam admission ticket. All registered candidates from India holding a June 2008 admission ticket will be accepted at the Mumbai test center. Remember to bring your government-issued photo ID.
The test center is located at:
Thakur College of Engineering & Technology
Shyamnarayan Thakur Marg
Thakur Village, Western Express Highway,
Kandivli (E),
Mumbai 400 101
http://www.thakureducation.org/
Candidates choosing to take the exam at the Mumbai test center must report to the Thakur College of Engineering and Technology lobby on the ground floor to be directed to their room assignments. We advise you to arrive early to ensure timely check-in on exam morning.
Please note that lunch options are limited and you may wish to consider bringing your own lunch.
To repeat the important note of caution from our previous message: There may be some remaining risks to consider. For example, although we believe it to be unlikely, the court decision permitting us to administer the exam in India could be reversed by the Supreme Court of India before 8 June. Further, the court ruling states that "the examination is subject to the result of the appeal" by CFA Institute to resume operating the CFA Program in India. Final hearing for the appeal is set for 25 August 2008.
If you have any questions, please reply to this e-mail or contact us at [email protected].
Sincerely,
CFA Institute
sitting for CFA level 1 this december..wishing all u june attempts best of luck

XXXXXXX,
Candidates are permitted to take the exam in India, however, if the 25
August ruling does not come in favor of CFA Institute the exams taken in
India run the risk of being considered null and the results being
withheld. CFA Institute considers this unlikely; however, there is
always the risk.
CFA Institute has not officially made a statement regarding refunds or
the same and most likely will not unless the ruling does not come in
their favor. We are hoping for the best.

Patrick Sims

Dear CFA Inst,
As mentioned, the court ruling states that to the result of the appeal" by CFA Institute to resume operating the
CFA Program in India>>
What does this really mean? What are the implications for students?
Specifically I would like to ask - Does this mean that if the final
ruling is against the CFA Inst. the exam held in India will be deemed
void and even if we have passed we will have to give the same exam again
(outside India) ??
Request you to please clarify what the court wants to say in simple
english.
Regards,

:on 2nd thoughts, if the June 08 exam is finally considered void bcos CFA Inst was not in compliance with the rules... then the CFA xam has been in India for last 20 yrs.. tht means all xams of last 20 yrs are also void...
ridiculous...
Final decision... not going newhr.. giving xams in Mumbai only.
exactly.....
Even i am also writing it in Mumbai.....
ATB u all.

Have been a silent spectator of this thread for long...
Here's my 2 pence about the L-1 exam that I gave yesterday...
I felt that the afternoon session was tougher than the morning session.
There were 2-3 questions on GIPS, some tough eco/portfolio ones, and some tough accounting questions which were a cause of concern for me... However, the rest of the paper was okay... and I'm hoping to maintain the hit rate that I'd achieved in the practice papers.
Am keeping my fingers crossed till the results.
Hope all of u had a good exam...
ATB for the results 😃
Hi,
Can anyone guide me to shops selling the calculators HP 12c / TI BAII plus in Hyderabad?
I am thinking of giving L1 in dec 08 @ kathmandu.
I wonder about the CFA logic, CASIO also makes financial calculators and could have been mentioned considering its wide availability but rules are rules i suppose.
Hi,
Can anyone who have taken exam in june 08 level 1 throw some light on ,how was the exam????? difficult topics, patern etc......
thanks
I took the CFA L1 exam yesterday at Mumbai centre. My comments about the exam papers and some suggestions are:
* morning exam had throw away questions on ethics. also other topics were manageable. most of the questions involved yes/no type answers and almost 80% of the paper was concept based. the trick is to remember all the concepts thoroughly. not much calculations required.
* break of 2 hrs. its always better to get something to eat from home. otherwise you'll have to spend a lot of time which you could have used to relax a bit.
* afternoon session was also on similar lines to the morning session. ethics was bit complex. FSA involved some calculations. rest of the paper was again concept based. overall moderate level paper.
* schweser seemed to be enuf for the preparation. there was no fight for the time as most of the questions were simply read and answer types.
* two back to back exams becomes tiring and u start feeling it in the last hour of afternoon session. so its always good to keep all the formula in mind which can save a lot of efforts in the last minute.
* overall exam went peacefully and CFA conducted it very well. the paper was in between easy to moderate level in terms of difficulty.
* ethics is the key. a lot of questions are based on subtle difference in the exact meaning of some terms such as fair dealing, conflict of interest, priority etc..
i have no clue about my performance but i know that i could have done better 😃
all the best to Dec aspirants....
do ask any questions related to the june exam. i'll be glad to answer them asap ..
