Start with FRA, get concepts cleared. Then move to Quants--> Economics and other subjects. Keep Ethics for last.

1.As of now u dont need passport for Dec 10 registration. It is for June 11, who are going to register in 2011.

2. Yes u can cover syllabus, still 4 month to go.

for june 2011 india is not featured as a test center..please check the cfa site..wat should we do now?

Register for a Center close to India( Dubai, Kathmandu, Colombo). For the past 3 years, the Center has been changed to India in March-April, so it shouldn't be different this year. The matter is subjudice, so this issue always comes up every year.

Do not register for Kathmandu as well
The place is vulnerable and very often the center gets cancelled there as well.
Bangkok, Singapore are better and safer options

You would be better off if you use the 3 years required for clearing all levels of CFA to better your work experience. Presuming you apply for jobs in US after you have completed your CFA, you would have 5-6 years of relevant work experience, that should be enough to get you a decent job. Moreover you already have a CFA, a new CFA is not going to exactly increase your knowledge in anyway.

Hey all,

I wanted a clarification regarding CFA from the CFA Institute...I have heard that the CFA from the CFA Institute has been barred in India by the Chartered Council. Is it so? and if it is, what would be the impact in finding a job after doing it?

Guys...need some answers...posted on several threads..but no use.

A person who is working as an AM in a Public sector Bank, wants 2 go for an MBA in the near future. If its within 4 years of work ex,it wld be an Indian MBA,otherwise from US/Europe.He is an Engineering graduate with an average profile(78%-82% during his academic career)
What are the courses that can polish his profile?
1.CFA/FRM/CPM.Any other?
2.What are the careers that can be sought after these Certifications?
3.Any other thing/advice.

Hi,

1. CFA is more into research and analysis. What is ur job profile as an AM in bank? Whereas FRM or CPM (I hope u mean cretified portfolio management by CPM) can be good option to make futher career in Banking sector.

2. CFA - Equity and research analyst
FRM - Credit risk analysts (and other job profile covering various risks)
CPM - Portfolio Manager/Investment manager/Personal Finance

3. I hope u must have heard of JAIIB and CAIIB. This are the Diploma in Banking and Finance courses provided by IIBF (Indian Institute of Banking and Finance). Please check them. They r really good short term courses.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.I am not working as an AM.Just appeared for some PO interviews in the past few months.Result awaited.

Was having some 'Free' time in hand right now.Thats why thought about going for some certification.

I reckon earning CFA pushes you twrds a more lucrative career like IB,Corporate finance domain?
What can be good to polish my resume for an MBA course?Which of them can open a gamut of options for me?

Regards.

For MBA, graduation is sufficient since MBA itself is master's degree. Whereas CFA is certification course and they say mother of all Finance courses. Yes u can surely go for CFA if u want to make ur career in hardcore Finance. But don't approach CFA just because it will help u to get into good B-schools.

Thanks!

Beg to differ, I too have completed my CFA from ICFAI and enrolled for CFA L1 in December and there is a world of difference between the two.

ICFAI CFA provides a very in-depth perspective on Indian markets, their history, evolution among other research based alternatives along with system and methods of accounting (according to ICAI).

International CFA is a different place, its research techniques and methods described are of the highest level and unlike other academic courses ,the skills learnt in this CFA are freely applicable in the real world at the highest levels.

i have used three different credit cards(icici, axis)with visa, master card logo, but when i press the confirm button i get the error msg that transaction failed
i have mailed the customer service and they said for other means which would take a lot of time and i want to register for this december attempt

(credit amount > rs 60,000
asking credit id# then no password or further detail just the confirm screen)

If any one could help me out then please do so........times running out!

Hey guys,

My query may sound like an already posted one but i don't know how similar may one have..

Im an electronics engineer from mumbai with and from a reputed college and as usual have been placed in the IT company(INFOSYS).Since last 3 years my growing interest in finance has convinced me that i do not want to pursue further into anything technical but want to go into finance..

now the problems that i am facing are.
1)dilemma over whether to go for ,MFE in US, or ,CFA in india followed by MBA..Its because even if i go to states i want to return back to india in 3-4 years after my masters..So how much value does MFE hold in india..

So if i intend to go to US for MFE i can accept the job in infosys and improve my coding skills.

Otherwise,I am looking for a job in finance in mumbai which i think i shall not get because i have no impressive background in finance as such..Just a couple of certified courses and thats it..So should i go for CFA level 1 in december and then apply for jobs or take up random jobs in mumbai related to finance(like mutual funs or insurance sales and all) and appear in june 2011?and what is the average salary if one has cleared CFA level 1 only..'Because i also have to think of finances..'

Should what do you suggest me..should i continue with infosys and then go for mfe,or CFA in december but not taking up any job(or doing some part time),or search for random full time jobs in mumbai and then go for CFA in next june??

people tell me its finally my choice, but,i dunno what are success chances in each option and i'm sure some1 must have gone through the same problems..any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thank you..
