If you manage to build such a profile you have good chances of getting in core investment banking or Investment management.
You might get a salary of 10-20 lpa depending on the company and upto 200% of bonus With such a profile equity research or Mergers and Acquisition advisory . Both of which needs intense work hours, give you hefty pay packages and also you have chances of earning huge bonuses
Hey Suyash.. I have heard many a times that CFA gives u a good position only when combined with MBA....Is that true ? and do u mean to say that even without MBA i ll get the kind of job profile u mentioned ?
thanks ABCLIKS But i am already committed to almost everything I wrote in that profile..Additions might be there but deletions are not possbile now...and i have already done the NCFM modules
Thanks for all your inputs but can u also give an approximate answer to my specific question ?
Suyash,Abhishek,Scintilla,Slayer and other seniors too....It would be great if u could answer my querry or give any input u think is appropriate
Hello everyone...
I wish to know the value of a profile that i will have after 4 years as on date....
It goes like this... 1. B.Com with first class all the way 2. CA from ICAI (till now i have cleared CA Inter and have been able to achieve a National Rank at both the levels ) 3. 3 years intern ship as a part of CA course in Deloitte Haskins and Sells (one of the big 4 CA firms in India) 4. CFA International (L3 cleared) 5. 0 -1 year work ex ( If any, shall be as a CA ) 6. NCFM - Capital,Derivatives and Commodities cleared with 90% on an average
As on date...If a person has this profile... What can he/she expect to earn in India and abroad and what sort of job profile shall it offer ??
Basically I would want to work in the core finance sector...like Investment Banking...Portfolio Management and the like.... and would have this profile in June 2014 unless unforseen circumstances occur. So i want to know the value of such an profile as on date. Dude, the profile will surely fetch u a salary of 15 L pa... But u should aim bigger... See Rakesh Jhunjhunwala , a CA by profession, has a portfolio of over 5000 Cr... Market me kuch bhi possible hai... Practical experience is a key...
What exactly do u mean by practical experience ?? I am already in a 3 years Audit internship with Deloitte Haskins & Sells...Its the best CA firm in Kolkata from Audit perpective...so I think it would be a great practical exposure

If you have MBA from a very good b school apart from all those which you mentioned, a good position can be earned more easily but that does not mean without an MBA you cannot excel. Just that you find it easier
hi! do anyone have any idea about how to install schweser L1 pro-qbank(through laxmi crk), as i am getting error "unable to load initialisation page.. some firewall running, restricting connection to loopback interface(127.0.0.1)"..
regard
Follow the steps:- 1. disable whatever antivirus/firewall you are using. 2. disable the windows firewall. (control panel) 3. reduce the security in internet explorer.
This should remove the restriction and allow you to install the cd.
Hi everyone I am planning to appear for L1 this DEC but I am having the following queries. Can some seniors plz provide some info about these:
Q1. Are there ane Indian authors for CFA materials ? I can't spend thousand of Rupees on the original notes.
Q2. I heard that there is some confusions going on about the test center. Do we have permanent test centers in India ?
Hi, there are indian authors for the CFA exam, but not very good. Alternatively you can buy old notes (last years) at various book shops at a fraction of the price of the original books. Try looking in at major cities bookshops. You will have to however buy the calculator which will be costly.

guys, good profile. But the package that you dream of will not come unless you prove your mettle in 2 ways:- 1. Get into a top b-school. 2. Develop your profile to match the needs of the companies like deutsche bank etc. The combination here would be the kind of projects and assignments you deliver to companies in the b-school. Work on as many live project assignments as you can, and you will be able to get exactly what you want, and probably even more.
Hello Puys!!! I am planning 2 give the CFA Level-1 in June 2011.I intend on starting off my preparation at the earliest..So, ....
1. Wat is the difference between CFA-AIMR & CFA-ICFAI?
2. Shall I go for the books available in the market for CFA Level-1 2010 or shall I wait as there might be a revision in the curriculum?
3. I've noted that the course-related materials are provided by the CFAI upon registration. Are those materials sufficient for clearing the exams in the 1st attempt? Also, does CFAI provide the materials for all the levels upon subsequent registration at no additional expense or are we supposed shell out extra bucks for the same?
4. I also read dat CFA level-1 2010 notes are available @ a xerox store. Can u pls tell me whether the notes for subsequent levels are also readily available @ such places as I've heard dat the original notes costs more than Rs 22000+?
5. Finally, by when is the registration for CFA L-1 June-2011 likely to commence?
Thanx in advance!
P.S. : Don't mind if any of the above queries is repeated!

A vanilla CFA can get a big package too , the degree is very well respected across the globe and anything but easy to complete.
A big School is the only wasy to a big package is a fallacy.

Hello, I have a few queries regarding CFA. As suggested i went through the older thread only to find out that it is dated 2006. I am not sure if the CFA registration charges are the same. Kindly update me with the process of registration and the fee. I am a final year Production engineering student. I wanted to pursue MBA but could not make it through this year. The reason i want to join CFA is to make the maximum out of my MBA. And i guess applying to B schools with a CFA degree in hand would always tilt the balance in my side. I would like to know the prospects of a CFA degree in itself and how does it help me in my career, That is now when i want to switch to the finance side.
@yags.liberto the fee and other details are available at cfa instt site. u need to register urself n pay the fee. once dat is done, cfa instt sends d books.
@kris kringle Hello, First of all, congratulations for your IIMA Call 😃 Best wishes for the future. I did check the institute website , The fee and other details have been mentioned in Us Dollars and there have not mentioned any additional charges for fright expenses. Hence i wonder if the fee would shoot abruptly in the end.
I also tried doing some research but with no luck. I intend to pay for this course all by myself , hence i need to be sure. Kindly let me know.
Besides , Have you any information about how helpful a CFA degree can be in my circumstances, with my degree and my plans for an MBA ?
