no we dont decide whether a insti sucks or not on the basis of their placement ..but we can surely decide on the basis of the integrity the students there have ...
am not in any bschool although planning to get into one ...and i have not applied to MDI and i dont plan to...and no i havent been rejected by them earlier either.... but i believe that distortion of facts in these matters is wrong...

I guess the allegations are being stretched too far now... if you believe that some b school is publishing fudged data - what makes u doubt the integrity of the students of that school... I am not passing any judgement whether my college is fudging or not - coz i am still trying to collect data from the concerned people - but then this does not make me a fraud & a person who lacks integrity!!!
You all should know that i am not a member of placement committe - so what makes u all think that we have all data with us - we hardly know some of the packages offered - and that too generally gross packages & not CTC...
It was because of request of some of us that Bingo got in touch with the placement people & tried to collect as much data as he could... but what happened??? Guys - we are trying to get as much info as we can - but we cannot leave our classes & exams for this - can we???

P.S. - I dont want to get into attacks & counter attacks (coz i personally hate such low level discussions) - but then those people who are trying to impersonate as b school aspirants (read people with 5-6 posts now & that too only in this thread) - i know what b school u belong too - coz ur computers also have ip addresses & all mods can check that - and mod can also happen to tell me that... - but believe me that doesnt matter till the time we can have healthy discussion & not only accusations & blatant attacks!!!
I guess it's best to limit ourselves to facts and figures and not pass judgement. Each of us have our "reasons" and "opinions", but let us bring them out only when we can support them by logic and don't have to rely on aggression alone to make a point.

let me try to make one thing clear for the people who are asking why mdi is not coming out with placement details then u come up with a press release..n it's released all over the media simultaneousy n those who r harping on the fact that why it's getting delayed....dood it's the annual placement report...so before releasing it ...it has to pass on thru various official hands....n no student can or should post it at his own discretion without getting a green signal from the relevant authorities....
so i say plz hold paitence...give them time....n let them come with the official press release

hey dude if you are talking about official placements and FORMAL figures coming out all I can say is that IIFT , A GOVT run insti came up with official figures on the same day

Very true. So brute_mba , keep your comments and language decent enough. I know WHICH TOP ranked school you are from and you don't want the world to know how grads and students from this college behave on a public forum. If you have a point to make, do it and move ahead. Else, stay away from the thread.
Dont' make it personal because as far as I know every bschool provides diff data. Even the average in hand sal @ IIMA is around 35K , not more than that. Again, if you can contribute something you are welcome, if you simply want to 'bitch' , find another place.

I see a very heated debate going on regarding placements at MDI and janta crying hoarse over the whole thing..I presume most people are cribbing just because they cannot digest the successful placement held at an institute which has been rising faster than what most people expected.
As far as I am concerned I believe it is only the case of the Fox who ended up making the wrong decision ...crying "Sour Grapes"....
Ok..coming back to the moot issue regarding the quoted placements figures..before I clarify (although am not obliged to) I would request all these CRY Babies to post information about thier respective institutes ....let us also get a chance to have a DIG at what you have to say...then maybe we can sit across and clear any doubts any one has...
I believe a couple of the IIMs, FMS, XL.. are done with thier placements so lets HEAR about the placement process..starting from the beginning .... how many PPOs how many Laterals... day 0 day -1 ..day 1 ....PPT highest lowest mean median mode....blah blah.....whatever you have to say...
As far as MDI is concerned I am no official spokesperson nor is prateek, samy or DeMo.....thus for EXACT details you might have to contact the placement co-ordinator..
So till then.... when ? when the CRY Babies come out with thier placement details....

Dude get ur facts right. I personally attended Star TV presentation and I know what they are offering. They were offering 3.75l with a variable pay of 1.5l. As the guy had more than 2 years work ex he was offered 100% variable pay for the first 2 years. That would make it 5.25l. And add to this figure the training and development cost about which you or I have no idea expect for the company and our placement coordinator. So how can you come to the conclusion that the salary was less than 6l.
The standard procedure that has been followed over years in MDI has been to break up the salary into five components....
1. cash component
2. Variable pay
3. Loans and benefits on interests
4. Training and development
5. Other benefits like leave travel etc
Also for that matter I had attended around 12-14 ppts of various companies. None of these companies, NOT A SINGLE ONE had a component known as training and development cost.
So just tell me guys how can you or me sitting here decide what is the training and development cost for each and every company.
Even though the way the salary is calculated might seem irrational to a lot of us this structure was approved by NOT 1 BUT 3 accreditation agencies last year and whose names I wouldn`t like to take due to issues here .
Hope this clarifies some of the doubts raised here.

just get the right picture. A normal salary in any(infact every ) top B-school would be around 30-35k A person with a six lak salary may get that and a person with an 8 lakh salary will also get that.
About 75 Percent of the batch in any institute would fall in this range.... 20 % lower. 5 percent higher.
Thats would be the truth. In my opinion......
others (from other top b-schools iims, xl, fms,spjain,nitie,iitb,mdi) may correct me if im wrong.
