Jaipuria Institute Of Management,Noida organzed a SPICMCAY Event for the students on 18th dec 2015 .
The Guest at the event was Saskia Rao-de Haas
She is acclaimed for bridging the Western and Indian classical music traditions. She is an accomplished Western classical cellist, plays folk music from Eastern Europe and has composed music for dance, film and theatre. Rao-de Haas composed music for the dance group Raga Mala and created an Indian string quartet in her piece 'Mukhani'. She developed, together with Shubhendra, a collection of pieces for sitar and cello with percussion under the collective name 'East marries West'.
Also Saskia's contribution to Hindustani classical music through the Indian cello, an instrument fashioned out of the cello to enable it to be played in Indian classical concerts. The Indian Cello was fashioned by the violin maker Eduard van Tongeren with five playing strings and ten sympathetic strings. It is smaller in size than its western counterpart, thus enabling Saskia to sit on the floor while playing it. The addition of an extra playing string on a higher octave and the ten sympathetic strings further enriches the tonal quality of the Indian cello.
Recently, 15-20 students from Jaipuria, Jaipur went to "pustakmela". Truly speaking it was a sublime experience. All the students were so excited after visiting that place; there were thousands of books lying on the tables.
Many books contain the kind of penetrating truth about human nature that is usually found only in fiction. So, they had collected lots of fiction books from Pustakmela as well as from crossword book store. They also bought love stories, thriller, literature, suspense, autobiography and many more books for our institution. So, concluding that no person lasts forever, but books and ideas can endure. The students will never ever forget this visit with their group sharing ideas and exploring lots of books. Books had influenced millions around the world to be their best selves at work and at home. Innovations are a way of life at Jaipuria Institute of Management
'Quality before Scalability' is an oft-heard mantra, but nowhere does this hold as true as in the business education scenario in India. At the turn of the millennium, management institutes were sprouting in every nook and corner of the country. But twenty years down the line, we notice that very few actually lived beyond a decade. One of those who not only survived but actually thrived - and is today recognized as a formidable brand -is the Jaipuria Institute of Management. Raised in the mid-nineties, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow was established by stalwarts from the domain of education from the pre-independence era. During its fledgling years, the management of Jaipuria Lucknow observed, studied and understood the dynamics of the Knowledge Revolution, and embedded this deeply into its DNA. So, by the time the second campus came up in Noida in 2004, innovations had become second nature to Jaipuria Institute of Management. It is for this reason that Jaipuria is today known for producing managers and leaders who are essentially Knowledge Society compliant.
"Frankly speaking, Jaipuria Institute of Management has come this far only because of its ability to innovate and keep up with the times, and at a very fast pace," points our Dr. Prabhat Pankaj, Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur. "Student Councils, the Individual Development Plan through a strong mentor-mentee programs, increasing focus on industry connect, taking administrative decision-making right to staff and faculty, 24 x 7 accessibility of academic resources to students through E-learning, and social media tools... all such innovations are deeply ingrained within our DNA now. I strongly believe that in the UnCampus philosophy, our years of innovation have come together under one umbrella. All the four campuses are seamlessly integrated, allowing free exchange of ideas and events, and leading to unprecedented collaboration between students, faculty and staff."
Many a time, events happening within the campus inspire innovations. For instance, campus life after classes was always interesting, but a couple of years ago, the concept of 'Life-after-6'was introduced formally, bringing in a series of value added activities. Today, foreign language classes and guitar classes during the 7-8 PM slot are big hits! The 'Midnight Reading Hub' is turning out to be another 'happening' innovation at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur.
The atmosphere at all the Jaipuria campuses is quite informal, with teachers acting more as facilitators and students being encouraged to think things through. With knowledge easily available through the internet, Jaipuria's faculty focus more on the emotional aspects of students - acting as friends and guides and always keeping the learning process high on the 'fun quotient'. Therefore, most of the teaching in Jaipuria campuses happens beyond the four walls of the classroom, in lush green lawns or on industry sites.
"Technology and this generation's behavioral choices have a major impact on how education is imparted on Jaipuria campuses. This has led to a paperless mode of education. Infact, the latest Jaipuria campus at Indore is completely digitaland has been from its inception because of the lessons picked up from other campuses.
Interestingly, the management of Jaipuria Institute of Management believes that one of the major reasons behind their success is that right from the beginning, everyone within the folds of the Jaipuria campuses believed they worked for a B-school second to none. Riding on its hugely successful legacy of innovations, the management of Jaipuria is quite confident of producing managers who are well ahead of their times.

On December 21, 2015, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow conducted an informative guest session on "GDP as a Welfare Measure in India" for the first years by Dr. Navin Chaturvedi. Dr. Chaturvedi is the Deputy Director of the State Planning Department, Uttar Pradesh.
The lecture commenced with a brief introduction by Prof. Mahima Sharma who also welcomed the resource person.
The speaker gave the students, an accurate and deep understanding of the national and state income keeping in view the three sectors of economy- primary, secondary and tertiary, describing how their estimates are prepared and also the three approaches of compiling the State Domestic Product and its factors taken into account while evaluating it. He then moved on to explaining the calculation of the gross domestic product (GDP- a monetary measure of the value of all final goods and services produced in a period of time) and its calculation possible in three ways using the production approach, the income approach, or the expenditure approach; all of which should, in principle, give the same result, the methodology for estimation of the Gross value added (GVA) which is a measure of the value of goods and services produced in an area, industry or sector of an economy. Further, he put in plain words as to why the GDP can be used as a measure of welfare in India.
Finally, this interesting session was concluded with a vote of thanks given by Prof. Sharma.
I am very thankful to Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow for their constant support and excellent guidance throughout my journey in this prestigious institute. If we don't know how to swim we have to get in the water to learn swimming. We learn by getting into it.
And that is what Jaipuria has taught me. It is giving me immense opportunities to develop myself. To tackle the corporate world by getting out of our comfort zone because we get trained here to achieve our goals not dreams.
