BIMTECH organises Convocation day
Greater Noida, October 8

In an attempt to celebrate the momentous day of conferring the degrees to the students who had graduated from the Institute in 2007, Birla Institute of Management Technology organized a grand event on Oct 7, 2007. The Convocation day was marked by the presence of more than 150 students who had just entered into the professional arena.
Dr. C. Rangrajan, Former Governor of RBI and Chairman Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India was also present on the occasion along with the faculty members and students of the ongoing batches. Dr. C. Rangrajan delivered the convocation address on the scheduled day and gave the students delightful words of encouragement.
"I must count the fact that India at sixty is a nation of young people. There is an air of hope. "The demographic dividend" is within our reach - if only we empower our youth with skills and capabilities. Many years of interacting with the bright young persons, like the ones that we have here before us, leaves me in no doubt that we suffer from no "talent gap" at all. What we need to create collectively with teamwork and consensus, are opportunities for "inclusive growth" where the fruits of progress are shared by all sections of our society. Non-inclusive growth leaving out large sections of our population, the urban-rural divide and the uneven growth of different regions of India are potentially dangerous for our national unity. Measures need to be taken to redress these imbalances, he said."
Dr. Rangarajan with such a long and distinguished track record as an academic, public servant and thought leader, has been the recipient of myriad awards, some of which are Padma Vibhushan in 2002, Award for Economics (Financial Express Award) in 1998, Finance Man of the Decade (Bombay Management Association) in 1998, Award of Excellence in Finance (Bank of India) in 1998 and many other awards.
Talking about Bimtech's growth as a B-school with excellent infrastructure and for getting rank 12 in outlook survey 2007, he congratulated the students for their academic competency and stressed the need of such institutes to strengthen management education in order to make India able to face global competition.
The program began at 5:00 PM with an academic procession and welcome address by the Chairman of the Institute. He also talked about the illustrious lineage and conventions of the Birla name. Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi Director, Bimtech also graced the occasion with his presence and encouraging words. He also presented the progress reports of the institute's achievements in the last year and also mentioned the steps taken by the college in instilling thought leadership qualities in the students as a part of the curriculum. Stressing the relevance of our programmes in business management, international business and retail, he said "Business Today and OUTLOOK have recently positioned BIMTECH at 10th and 12th ranks amongst private business schools in the country. I am excited and delighted to share with you that our long standing exercise of restructuring our programmes and syllabi revision of all programmes has attracted the attention of the appraisers. We have stood first in the country in the re-structuring and revision of curriculum amongst all the B-Schools."
BIMTECH is recognized as pioneer in post-graduate level education in Insurance and Retail. The AICTE has approved three sectoral programmes of our Institute in 2006, as soon it commenced giving approvals for such sectoral management post-graduate programmes under their revised regulations. Since then we have all of our two years' post-graduate programmes approved by the AICTE. Bimtech's collaboration with both Indian and foreign business schools as well as with the industry have given it more spread. Bimtech has also contributed with our research outputs to entities such as the World Bank, the Bank for International Settlement, European Union etc and is also involved in research projects related to the issues in micro-finance, micro-insurance, agri-business and entrepreneurship.

The chairperson also delivered diplomas to the students of 2005-07 batch of courses PGDM, PGDIB, PGDRM and PGDIRM. Certificate of Merit were also given on this day to the First Rank Holders of the respective departments. Those who received gold medals included .
These students received immense appreciation and applause for their academic performance. The event was charged with enthusiasm and excitement and the elation was visible in everyone right from the faculty to the students.
The evening ended in a true convocation day style with students throwing their caps in the air and a group photograph.

@puys
so, we got our tees toooooo and it is pretty cool with 20 yrs logo on it .....
Now smthng abt alumni meet and convocation day,we guyz r gng for movie to celebrate our success and the whole effort tht we hv put into it.........

All planned by our faculties especially our dearest abha rishi mam.........:)

so,......
We got our tees and now know to use it correctly,......we hv been to noida sector 18 putting an appeal for eradicating poverty with our tees on and gr8 bimtech poster.......
(arranging the pic).......All the media ppl CNBC AWAAZ,AAJ TAK to name a few were present there,we formed human chain in order to make the appeal.......

On the occasion of Human Development Day, more than 350 students of BIRLA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY, Greater Noida joined hands to form a human chain in the busy Atta market of NOIDA, to spread mass awareness about the UN MILLENIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS. The idea behind this student-led initiative was to propagate and remind the nations of the eight fold goals set before the 189 countries, including India to achieve a complete sustained development.

The eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) - which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015 - form a blueprint agreed to by all the world's countries and all the world's leading development institutions.

The eight goals are drawn from the actions and targets in the Millennium Declaration that was adopted by 189 nations and signed by 147 heads of states and governments during the UN Millennium Summit in September 2000.The 8 MDGs break down into 18 quantifiable targets that are measured by various indicators. The Eight goals in brief are

Goal 1 : Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
Goal 2 : Achieve universal primary education
Goal 3 : Promote gender equality and empower women
Goal 4 : Reduce child mortality
Goal 5 : Improve maternal health
Goal 6 : Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases
Goal 7 : Ensure environmental sustainability
Goal 8: Develop a global partnership for development

More than three hundred students belonging to the institute led by the faculty and the staff staged this demonstration to remind the government of the objectives set in the Millennium Development goals in order to persuade them to take more frequent and active steps in this regard.

The goals and belief of the CSR body of BIMTECH fully recognizes the relevance of these goals and feels that BIMTECH needs to work in unison for the achievement of the same. The Birla Institute has always been at the forefront of social revolution and has set instilling CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPOSIBILITY and its awareness in its students as one of its major objectives. Therefore to make a contribution to this massive programme in their own simple way the students decided to spread awareness by making almost a kilometer long human chain in the busy street of the Atta Market. Somebody has truly said "little drops of water and little grains of sand make the mighty ocean and the pleasant land!"

We hope that in this silent but effective way, we might be able to bring about awareness of the long way we still have to transverse to achieve our goals by 2015.

The response of the youth to join the chain was tremendous and the event truly reflected their spontaneity to associate themselves with the cause that affects its life and livelihood

wat would be the expected cut off tis year ....
&& wat was it last year ......

does BIMTECH take mat scores .....

hi teamman, cutoff may be above 80% (depends on cat scores this year), but bimtech also give preference to extra currics, work ex and academics. DM(diploma in mgmt.) and IB(international business) are based on cat scores but retail and insurance is based on both cat and mat scores. If u hv any further query, pls feel free to ask.

hi puys,
Anoter gr8 day for bimtechians
PGDM-I yr. initiated an event Chak De India in which we presented movie Chak De! India as case study and we had a quality panel discussion on transformational leadership. The panel consisted of Arjun awardee Ashok kumar(son of famous hockey player, dhyanchand),Jafar Iqbal (former captain of indian hockey team),Rajeev khurana.......
few of who couldn't manage to turn up sent their messages through audio visual aids like Kiran Bedi(IPS officer) and jaideep sahni(script writer of chak de)....
We guyz gained a lot of insight through this panel discussion on transformational leadership and talking to the corporates present there did lot of value addition.
