What do you mean when you say that the colleges demand 50 % again. Its not an elimination criteria at this stage - right? Just trying to understand...
What you are saying is that the chances are bleak because the in the overall profile -the poor acads will cause a dent ..right?
Yes, indeed. Leaving aside XLRI/XIMB, every other good college has 50% as the eligibility criteria to apply. So it becomes elimination at this stage only.
ask him to do a detailed study of the university which he is slated to join . if it seems to be well established and not another of those sham institutes which lock their doors whenever required, then do ask him to fly to London . in my opinion it would be much better cause the ignominy (as perceived by our generous society) won't ever leave him . be it jobs, colleges or professional courses . and as one of the puys suggested if he has the will and the determination ask him to go all guns blazing for UPSC. that will be the sweetest revenge for him
RAVI_SINGH 01. And you know, why this could happen... because he knew, that whtever happened, is happened...he is "a part of the system" and to survive (and even to change the system), he will have to win over the system first, no matter what. Nobody is bothered about what happened with you during exams/graduation, all they see is the end result. One more thing which encouraged him to perform was that he knew that his father would like to see his son as a winner, not as a victim of the situation. Fate is always in your hands friends, its all about mindset.
That person is really Appreciable . But it's important to remember that five fingers are not same .Everyone can't be that stronge .some are emotionally strong and some are not.Other thing as some one mentioned some people study unlimited still dont score well but some in 2 hour study turn out to be the topper's.
Infact i know a person who passed out of IMT(GZ) with just 65% in graduation and even school acads are not very good ,not very interested in studies but he has zeal to do something in life.
so,its not that less marks shuts all the options in life .Here no one discussed about " enterpreneurship" ..It just you have to take out options available in hell in this world
so in the end.........is their any institute in india...which provide.....PG admission to a person who is having less than 50%.....in graduation for MNA/PGDM.??
Even I'm undergoing the same problem. I'm an economics graduate from Delhi University and have 44.2% in my graduation. I have a good academic record otherwise, but screwed up the graduation cause of a few reasons. Though, this doesn't mean I've less knowledge about the subject I studied. I know a great deal of what I studied in the 3 years' of my graduation but just couldn't score well in examinations.
Now, I'm not eligible to apply for most of the good colleges for Management. I have no clue what should I do. Even though I sit for the exams, and score well in the entrances, the problem will persist.
Just a thought ..... if just grad scores and 50% criteria is so bugging....Y not do grad again. I mean picture dis... life's messed up coz f grads.....1 way is to accept that nothing can be done....the other way is ok ... agreed life s messed up n it will hamper my chances in a gud b school ....i am over age for defense.....but i have the spirits to change life for myself. I will work in a call centre to support my self... will do grad again n dis time i will wrk fr it...will write CAT after 3 years... and will do prove everyone rong. Rebellious way....... bt dats d warrior's way to change the thing.
It is not necessary to do the whole graduation again, U can give improvement for the last yr only, so what is the big deal

Can't even think of any other available options.
Please someone help !
Bhai if you trust in yourself, there are few good colleges like XLRI/XIMB where 50% is not required. One of the Puys on this forum itself, converted XLRI at 47% in grads. ATB
Well I certainly dont want to vent out my anger on system here
Since he didn't have much option, other alternative I could think of is CA...
I dont have to say CA is one of the most professional and cheapest course available on planet Earth 😛
ps: with a degree he could skip the foundation part and can directly appear for inter.
Skipping of foundation part is long over my friend...it was way past in 2004.
For people who are below 50%,i would suggest you all to take Chartered Accountancy ..invest 3 years into it (though clearing it in 3 years is no gurantee.) but this is a course which is hghly respectable and at par with an MBA from tier 2 -tier 3 value wise. (No offence meant..the value will increase manifold with on;es experience. In this circle it is widely joked,A ca and a champagne takes 20 years minimum to brew into a fine product ). Now after clearing it you can target iims,xl's and others as most of them have MOU with ICAI. Or u can go for a banking career which is again very respectable and mind you, there is a 74% market liberalisation in this sector which is huge and you can well understand the pressure of it.It is certain that indian banks will rule the world within a decade. Or, U can go for an IAS career. But i wud suggest get a job first and then study for IAS,though it will be very taxing but u can drive your own life after that. For record this years IAS topper is a bank clerk.Yes u heard it right. If he can do it so can you.
Point is if u have wasted ur life due to your own fault/maybe due to circumstances life will certainly give u chances to amend those. But the point is it will be very less. This time tests you and your character.
For record,i want to say,i was never serious about my studies till 12 although acdemically i was never behind those toppers in any respect. When i used to speak in class,i still remember the toppers from my class heard me with respect.Though markwise i was always behind. This is not an advertisement of my own drumbeats, but i have so many things to tell, and so few words to write. I'm a plain vanilla graduate from B.com honours with 54.25% and i know the circumstances a person can be in,when he scores below 50%.
So put your chin up and face the world. Here a person has converted XLRI-HRM with plain 47% .If he can so can you.
I have a B.Tech (Engg. Physics) from the elite IIT Bombay with a CPI of 4.5. I am NOT eligible for any course whatsoever!! Could anyone help?
Personally I hate this idiotic education system of India.
Would these **** at IIM not venerate the likes of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs etc who dont have any college degree (they only have college credits) or the likes of Ambani who was 8th pass but exceptional in business? These morons invite the same companies of these successful entrepreneurs to place their students!
I just hate this idiotic education system. If below 50% = worthless, they shouldn't have even given a degree to me. Now all I can do is stamp this useless degree on my wall and make people wonder. LOL
I am not too keen on an MBA degree, as I dont consider it to have a real value in imparting real education that even the likes of MSc (Physics) or MA(Psychology) could impart. But the problem is that I wont even get MA at this stage in life. 😞
IIM Ahmedabad is the most hypocritical institution in the world (okay, one of the most). They are now introducing a new seminar (or something) about Anna Hazare and his success. Do they even know that he is only 7th pass? Height of hypocrisy! Dont they realize that high score in exams may imply a greater intelligence but a low score doesn't necessarily imply a lower intelligence or talent.
Anyway, I am completely Anti-MBA and consider it to be the most useless degree ever designed in the modern world which is itself becoming more and more fake with times.
I would rather advice you all not to invest your precious time and money for an MBA. Believe me, even a IIM Indore pass out has told me about the superiority of real world experience over an MBA from even the elite schools.
On another note, if I do MA from some open university like IGNOU, will I be able to evade the graduation criteria by showing master's grades instead of graduate?
Dont loose hope guys. Think about the likes of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates who dont have any college degree. Or our very own Ambani who was 8th pass. Wouldn't it be a much better idea to start something new so that you can give back to society instead of acting as leeches like IIM or other grads?
I advice all of you to take up some job and do another graduation side by side (through distance program). Having two graduate degrees is not a bad idea even if in the worst case you dont make to a top school.
Remember that one unleashes one's full potential when his or her back is on the wall.
I am sorry to reply again and again but I really have sympathy with others who are in the same boat as me.
Let me give you the best idea if you want to succeed despite low graduation scores. Get a job. Any job. And then try to do an executive-MBA from one of the top schools. It requires you to have a few years of experience but the good news is that they dont have any limitation of graduate percentage . So have patience. Then write GMAT or other exams and crack some good executive MBA program if you really want to become a manager in life.

Deepak ,
ICICI program has it's own pros and cons. Many people have opted out of because of this bond issue. Reasons :
You have to take Education loan from ICICI only. Hence , you are the mercy of their interest rates which will be floating.
5 year is a way long time. Because you can't jump from 1 job to another in search of better opportunities.
You will be doing MBA from manipal university. Hence no option of any other college.
The above views are solely by me only.
It will be better to take PO exams. Fill IBPS clerical exam. Last date is just around the corner.
& about the AIMCATS. Don't loose heart. may you are just trying too hard , hence experiencing burn out. It happens. Now , the so called lo scores in AIMCAT can be from 40 %tiles to 95 %tile. IT depends on your perspective. If you are getting some decent scores in AIMCATS you can easily crack PO exams.
And , if you are switching from IT to BANK sector , you need a very justifying answer.

Dude! I can totally understand what goes on in your head cause of this situation. It's kinda same with me. I'm an Economics graduate from Delhi University.. Tell anyone and they are like DELHI UNIVERSITY.. But I would have been one of the least scorers of my batch (again, education system is such that even though I had knowledge about the subjects, marks are given who cram up things and full pages ditto to the readings). Now i am left with no options to apply for masters. All the good institutes for masters in economics, require quite high %, MBA colleges also have their own criteria... So everything is kinda totally fucked up.
I have no clue why do they leave out the 10% (40%, if thats the passing to 50%) students if they think they are only ones not worth any good. I have classmates who score 70% plus and can't even tell you the difference between Capitalism and Communism or Who Karl Marx was (YES !! Being Economics students)! And they get good grades after cramming up things and filling up innumerable pages in the exams. The condition of the education system here is highly pitiable.
