My query is about the ISB Mohali campus. When we apply this year, we would be eligible for both Hyd and Mohali.
What are the no. of seats in Mohali as compared to Hyderabad? And is the Mohali campus comparable to Hyderabad with regards to faculty, infrastructure, facilities offered, placements, hostel accommodation, etc?
And finally, with a 700+ GMAT score and decent academic record until HSC, how much does a 55.2% in BE weigh against an applicant's chances of getting an admit to either campus?
Thanks & Regards, Santosh R
Hi Santosh, ISB Mohali has 210 seats. There are different electives offered in Mohali campus and Hyderabad campus. But there is an option of campus exchange.
Also, placement data is not yet available as the current batch si 1st batch for Mohali campus.
As far as your chances are concerned, everybody is in same boat evaluating their respective chances. You can give your best shot and rest is with adcom. If your whole application is good, then you can surely make it to ISB π
I am re-applicant to ISB's PGP. In fact, applying for the 3rd time... I got dinged in the 1st round in my 1st attempt. Got dinged in 2nd round in my last attempt. Now, my first question is: Will it be major drawback in my candidature for the programme??? :-(
Also, I have around 10.5 yrs of experience in IT/ITES industry. Would it be again a drawback and I would be expected to apply for the Executive programme instead????? :-(
As for my interest/ inclination, I want to be a part of regular classes and would like to go through the constant rigour throughout the course, collaborating with highly enthusiastic and intellectual minds.
Guys, Would applicants from 2010-11 be considered as re-applicant. I tried to recover password after so many years but it says my id doesn't exists(I have my account re-created). My concern is if ISB doesn't save this info, how they gonna evaluate vis our last application. Obviously the fourth essay gonna speak our side of story{ }. Are there people who gonna apply after a long gap???:lookround::lookround::lookround:
Re-applicants are asked for their previous application number (if I am not mistaken) when they apply. Dont worry about trying to log in with your previous details. Records are maintained separately.

mbafinalattempt,
Can you please send me a PM with your contact details - I would prefer to discuss this with you as it is easier than typing everything out.
Simply put - NO - you are not at a disadvantage applying the 3rd time round. I personally know of a couple of folks who have been accepted on the 3rd attempt.
Dear mbafinalattempt, You can certainly call the person below (atouchof...) However, my few points: Find a strong reason on why you want to do MBA. ISB does look at the answer. Please understand that ISB has to do justice to its placement especially of people who have experience of 10 years and more. Hence it wants to know exactly what is your objective of doing MBA and from ISB. Work on your post MBA objective answers too.
Goodluck. And yes, it doesn't make any difference to your candidature if you were not selected earlier. (Don't worry about this aspect though. Focus on your interview answers and you will succeed).

I recently gave GMAT and somehow screwed it badly 660 ( Q48, V33).
Below is my profile: - 10th - 85.6 12th - 75.2 Engg (IT) - 3.2
WE - 3 Years. 1 year as a Business Analyst and the then 2 years as a Management Consultant in an IT company, undertaken projects spanning across NA, EMEA, APAC, regions in the areas of Process improvements, operational efficiency etc. initially worked along with a McKinsey team that my company had hired as external consultant, work is absolutely Non-IT related.
EC - Represented school, college and company at national level quizzes. - Board member of an educational NGO since 2008 - working in the area of increasing the quality of education, process improvements etc.
I plan to apply to ISB but I guess my GMAT score is too low for that. Giving GMAT again is an option but it is very difficult as my work involves extensive travel, almost in every 3 weeks and I would not be able to take any vacations as I had already exhausted them in the previous attempt π . Do I stand any realistic chance with the current score or should I give the GMAT again?
Hey Iregistered, My profile is pretty similar to the profile you just mentioned. Anyways here are my 2 cents ,the GMAT score is just a part of your whole profile. If you think you can compensate the low score by showcasing your profile through essays then go ahead and apply for ISB. The IT folks have a very high median score (730ish)so the best strategy would be to showcase yourself as a consultant and not as a guy from the IT industry.

"The desire of corporations to maximize profits creates conflict with the general welfare of the nation at large." Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations or reading.
The opinion that the desires to maximize the profit by the corporations conflict with the general welfare of nation, is not true at large.
To begin with let us say that author of a particular film corporation wants his movie to make profits. For this reason he tries to introduce many concepts which are not acceptable to society and may create threat to welfare of nation at large. But there are rules, regulating authorities and boards which are responsible to control these activities, thus preventing corporations to threat to nation welfare.
On the other hand there are some loopholes in the government bodies because of which sometimes the corporation's desire to maximize the profit may harm the welfare of nation. Take example of drinks manufacturing corporation, in which sometimes to maximize profits, the corporation uses cheap and hazardous raw material bypassing all the quality checks and bribing the controlling authorities. The final product which contains these raw material is consumed by the nation and therefore creating harm to general welfare of nation.
To sum up, the corporation's desire to maximize the profit does not necessarily conflict the general welfare of nation at large. Its the government's responsibility that it should have a hold on the profits that the corporations make and use these profits for general welfare of nation. For example to maximize the profit, Vdafone, a telecom corporation did a deal outside India so as to avoid tax rule and gain the profit. So the government role is necessary for nation welfare.

Dude.. get a feedback from ISB as soon as possible.. and yep give the app. more time and love this time. I completed my app. in 2 nights and am in this thread now.
I was told by some experts that some of the successful applicants took as long as 2 months for their essays....wonder what they write ...the word count is also fixed.

Well, most schools advise you to spend a lot of time on your essays. The essays are your first shot at telling the ad com who you are. The scores only tell the ad com that you are comfortable with Math and English. Inspite of this, year after year we spend time looking at improving our GMAT scores rather than improving our essays.
From what I know of people here, it takes 2 to 3 months because atleast 2 people review the essays. On average it takes them two weeks to find the time to sit and analyse your essays in depth and give you feedback. It takes you another 2 weeks or so, to find the time to introspect and improve your essays. The more the number of iterations, the better your essays.

they may have so many achievements that it would be difficult for them to sort and fill in the essay
