When are you planning to reapply - R1 or R2? There will hardly be three months after you get the feedback....

still thinking. yeah we would not have much time after the feedback, but R2 would be too crowded and our case might be lost..
dunno what to do...other than :banghead:

Yeah tricky situation....I am repenting why didnt I apply in R1 this year :banghead:

anyway , I have got thru XLRI GMP. Planning to join XLRI beacuse :
1. Not sure about ISB feedback. If something to be worked on , the I have to apply R2 when competition is more. If its something thats manageable in 3 months, then also a percentage of uncertainty remains.
For me this is te high time for MBA.
2. XLRI has healthy batch size of 120 ..not a mammoth one as 770...
3.Fee is little less..

And finally...loved XLRI more than any IIM (got a call from XL last year couldnt convert :()

Puys pour in your opinions..

Guys, a word of advice - please don't get into a mad race of applying every year , I don't think the program is meant to function that way. There is a reason why feedback is important - perhaps you simply do not have enough experience, perhaps the ad-com was not convinced of the maturity of your career goals. Just thinking about re-applying without really understanding what the feedback meant is a very very non-optimal approach (and ultimately counter productive).

And please don't ever fall into the trap of undertaking an activity just to impress the ad-com - more often than not the ad-com will recognize attempts to game the system and then your application journey is well & truly over.

Spend some serious time understanding stuff like - why you want to do an MBA, why ISB, what will you bring to the table, how are you different from the rest of the applicant pool etc. A lot of things will fall into place once you've figured out some/all of these, most of the other stuff like essays or work experience etc can be improved once you understand what you're aiming for.

Just my 2 cents, no offence meant πŸ˜‰

in short be a convincing "boal bacchan"

Alright, I think I will enter the race this year. Here is my profile
X - 81.2% (State - Maharashtra)
XII - 91.0% (State - Maharashtra)
B.E. Electronics and telecommunications - 69% (University of Pune)
Work ex - 3.5+ years, working with a telecom MNC giant in software/telecom domain. Worked as technical lead on projects, though do not have an official position, as the company does not give those kind of designations. Awarded multiple times for outstanding performance.
GMAT - will be giving this June/July

Extra curriculars/hobbies - Playing football, cricket. Writing- have written articles for some news dailies as a free-lancer. Other interests include history and politics.

Anybody think there is a chance for my profile this year.

hello people... another potential reapplicant.... got ditched after interview last yr ... still waiting for the ad-com to become active this yr to get some feedback on what went wrong (although) i have some ideas....

Hi All,

I am an ISB 2014 aspirant with over 9 years of typical IT ADM experience and working in my 5th company currently. The first 7 years of my career were for reputed Indian IT services companies at various progressive roles starting from a developer thru Associate Project manager.

However, I had to quit my job and join my husband in USA and for the last two yrs, have been working for small desi consulting companies, as IT developer. (Typical H1-b Contractor kind of profile - the only option I had). Salary wise, things have been good. But, how will this look on my application?

Also, are there any Alums or current ISB students who can tell me what kind of roles did they get into post ISB in the IT sector.

I think you made the best out of your situation (not every H1 Visa dependent manages to get work), so look at the positive side. I hope that during this stint, you can talk about working in teams, interacting with clients, international exposure and managerial experience).

him119,

MBA Decoder is offering reject feedback to applicants who failed to make it this year. In case you are interested, you can PM me your profile description along with essays.

p.s. - this is not the official feedback from ISB, but hopefully some of our analysis can help you take corrective measures in case you plan to reapply.

Thanks a ton Namita.. I was actually on a dependant visa, (L2 with and EAD) which let me work in USA. I had to wriggle my way thru to get in somewhere.

Is it possible for you to connect me to Alums from IT background who chose to stay within IT. I am particularly looking for folks who joined ISB with over 8 yrs of IT experience.

Guys,

Might seem like a stupid question but how do you attach files when sending a PM. Usually, while posting you have the option to attach the file but the same is missing when trying to send a PM.

Thanks in Advance !!!!

Hi, as mentioned above I am a first time applicant. My question is that, has anyone been rejected for not being able to come up with the fees(does the institute guarantee scholarships in such cases)? I know that a loan of up to 20lakhs can be availed but, if suppose someone is not able to get a loan due to previous loan commitments due to which banks do not give the loan, will he or she have to forfeit his seat. Does anyone know of any such situations having taken place. Just curious.

Wattup guys??? BTW, most of you out here don't really know me, so hello to all.......... πŸ˜ƒ Do tell me how your preps are shaping up.........feel free to connect with me...........

happy to help...........

Hello Seniors,

Below is my profile:

10th and 12th: 92%
B tech 65%
Work ex from Aug/2010 with a top FMCG with 4 international projects and visits.
GMAT in July.

I just wanted to know what ISB looks for in aspirants' profile?
Also does my work ex sound freakishly small for ISB?

Srang,

There is no standard profile of an ISB student and that is something we are proud of. Every year the admissions team (current students included) carefully admit students, bringing in as diverse a set of individuals to maximize learning (both in and outside the classroom).

Four bullet points as you have listed tells me nothing of who you are or what your work experience is like. Working abroad on 4 projects for examples means nothing in today's context - what you did there however would be what an admission committee would like to know.

With regards to your work ex - you would have close to 3 years of work ex by the time you start the program. The minimum work ex requirement is 2 years. Since you cross the requirement you shouldn't have to worry at all. That being said the average work ex at ISB is 5 years.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Roshan

Hi All,

Hope someone can give me a feedback about my profile. Here are the key points :

1. IIT B Graduate. 2010
2. I have been working with JSW group for the last 2 years. I practically run a blast furnace for the group. Have not worked on any project. Sole responsibility of the job is to produce steel and I work in shifts.

3. GMAT - 730.

4. ECs - Not good at all. Spend most of the time watching sitcoms and movies. No other activity.

I do want to apply for ISB this year. And would like to know how can I improve my profile.
