please explain using LCM method
A and B can together finish a work in 36 days. They worked together for 4 days and then A left for another job. After another 8 days, B finished the remaining work. In how many days can B alone can finish the work?
My approach

A+B 36 36 1
now acco . to qn,
A+B * 4 DAYS =4 units
remaining units = 36-4=32 units completed by B in 8 days.So 1 day work of B=32/8 =4 units
Now if B alone take to complete work =36/4 = 9 days.
The ans is right but i cant understand the logic that if A+B completes 1 units in 1 day and B completes 4 units in day .Then A had to do negative work right.ie emptying. Can any one clear my doubt??
