Hello everyone on PG,
I am Sandesh Joshi, a Nepali citizen, currently pursuing my MBA at Oxford College of Business Management Bangalore under the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme of the government of India. I was preparing for my GMAT, with decent scores of around 670( on the mocks, that is). Then suddenly out of nowhere this idea for applying for the scholarship came into my mind. I applied, got selected and was placed at OCBM. Currently I am not satisfied with the nature of the course and the teaching pedagogy at my college. I also pondered over the idea of dropping out and restarting my GMAT preparations. But family pressures and lack of confidence to start the uphill task of GMAT prep all over again have prevented me from taking that step. Instead, I have planned to continue with this so called MBA and join the PGDM Finance week-endcourse at SIBM -which is about 5 km from my hostel- and then face GMAt head on should I decide to study further. I was searching the programme on Google and happened to find a thread on PG. Please suggest me whether the course which is ideally not designed for people like me would benefit me....
Qualification ---- BBA ( 8 semester, 120 credit hrs, CGPA 3.72 on a scale of 4)
Aim for the next one year... Continue with the MBA and get enrolled in PGDM course of SIBM...
Want to go into full time academics...

Hello to everyone,
I am a student of unitedworld school of business.
Who ever are willing to join Unitedworld school of business i will give you three reasons why you should not choose unitedworld school of business (uwsb)for PGPM
The learning: faculty @ uwsb was very good in initiall stages but 3/5 deans left the institute with 1 year and Hyderabad campus changed as many as 3 deans in 8 months. Even the quality of teaching is coming down because they are not replacing the faculty who left the institute. They are covering this gap by existing faculty even though when their area of expertise is different.
The modular descriptor is entirely theoretical; there may be a max of 10% practical learning.
The placements: Placements are worst one could ever imagine. The management here sends us to the walkins in the local area where pay ranges from 2 lakhs (ctc) to 3 lakhs ctc (please note that there is huge difference between ctc and net pay). Here the so called placement officers will call (telephonic) the companies like Coco cola and asks for vacancies.( now who the hell will reply you when you are approaching through a call and not evening meeting their HR directly). So far the percentage of people placed is 7%.
The fake promises: They made a number of fake promises regarding Singapore tour, live content engine, intelligent campus, three tier placements (there is not even single tier). Here the problem is not with dean or marketing department, the faults lies with the top management itself is wrong. They are looking this as immediate profit making center which not happening because in education sector you cannot expect roi immediately. Of course I agree that it is not a organization for charity but returns will come only when you had achieved a good reputation in the target segment.
hello Anu
I am also a student of UWSB kolkata campus. In my views you might be mistaken somewhere because I am quite happy with my placement with a descent package and profile given by the campus. Our dean is still the same person and most of the students are already placed. undoubtedly it is a new college and might be in a challenging phase; but I am sure that the standard of teaching in my campus is amazing!! Even I am missing my campus lyk hell...One more thing, dnt be depressed with the placement coz the market is in a slow mode and there is no big package for fresher untill u r a student frm IIM or XLRI. If you float ur CV in the job portals i can assure you that there will be no offer more that 2.5- 3lac per annum.
I strongly believe in aptitude & performance as well..so its better not to curse or abuse the college.
Even I have a good friend in the Hyderabad campus but he is also not offensive for the college at all;he says he gained a lot from the curriculum. Anyways, I would rather suggest you to not to say any wrong stuff without proper information, I hope you get the real and clear picture soon!!!
which batch ?
