Hello people, my name is Rohit Varun. I know its a strange double name, but it has its benefits;-)
Jokes apart, I'm here for what everyone is. I'm worried about my career.
I am about to pursue MBA from Amity Bangalore.
I am a Comp. Sci. Engineer by qualification, and have also worked for Polaris Software Labs Ltd for around 8 months.
Later on I realized I wasn't happy with my job, although the name was good, I had respect in the society, everything was fine, but I found out that "I HAD" to go to work.
I hope you can read between the lines. The I HAD TO thing made a statement in its own way. I realized that I wasn't a technical guy ever. I could do the coding pretty well, but I was just not happy. Life got restricted to a desktop. Like every common man, I too had big dreams. And the path in which I was moving, didn't quite convince me of making it big.
I decided to go for MBA. Probably that would be more dynamic than the thing at hand.
In a hustle I left my job, and started looking out for private institutes that give degrees in management. I always knew it was a waste of time to appear for CAT. I know my capacity, and I knew I'd be just wasting a year, and finally land in a college almost equivalent to the one I'm going now
I had two options, **** or AMITY. I dropped **** and wwent for AMITY.
The real shock is this. I didn't choose Amity Noida, I chose Amity Bangalore.
According to me, if there wouldn't be placements within the college, at least I could find one outside. Bangalore has more than 4000 companies in it.
Every institute was new at a point of time. If you ain't from IIM(the place where best minds of the country go), then I guess all other private colleges are the same. It depends on the individual's approach to carve her/his career.
The only thing I'm worried about right now, is what specialization I should go for.
Marketing is good, and very promising, but it has its own turfs. The first couple of years are horrible, and you have to be on your toes throughout your career. Reach the ales targets etc etc etc..
Finance is good, but very hectic it seems.
HR is good, so so, and at least you'll have to deal with people in a decent fashion.
Usually girls go for HR, that's what the word is.
But I beg to differ. Every Hr head I have known in every company is a man. I wonder why people talk so low of HR.
But that's not the point. Frankly speaking I don't give a damn to what people think. Its my life, and I have to be happy and believe in myself. Or else I don't have a life. End of the day, I need money in my account.
That's what matters.
My reason why I'm here is that I want to know how a GUY can shine his career after pursuing MBA in HR.
I'm technically quite good, so I won't have a problem grasping SAP HR and other tools.
I need advice o how I should shape my career.
If there is anyone out there who has given time to reading this post of mine, then I would really appreciate it you can give me some advise.
Thank You
Cheers for Life!!!!!!!!!!!!! - varun
