Introduce Yourself - II

Hi its Anurag working in Bangalore, after graduating from NIT RKL.Can't w8 for the exams.

Hello guys!!!
I am varun grover, another pagal joining you in quest to realise my dreams. My dream is to do MBA from Cornell school of hotel administration. I am glad that I am clear about my goals and know this for sure that cornell is the place I want to be to do my MBA from but I am still confused how to do that.
I am a hotel management graduate from Institute of hotel management bangalore(2005) and was working with jet airways as a cabin crew for 4 good years. I always wanted to be in hotel sales and marketing and 6 months back have started working with a five star hotel in delhi in the same field.
I want to gain some experience in sales and probarbly after 2-3years would like to join MBA programme with the cornell.
I know its too early to think about it right now but I am already 25 and want to take it very seriously. I have always been an average student but I have full faith in myself that with hard work and full focus I will be able to get good score in GMAT.Its just that I have been out of touch with studies since a long time and need some guidance to plan my preprations.
I will need your support, wishes and full guidance to do this!!!!!
any comments or advice appreciated..

They ask for an aggregate graduation percentage........
And ya people with work experience are preferred by recruiters..Most of the times the highest salary goes to the experienced guys and not the freshers one..

Greetings all :)

My name's Ram, I'm 27 years old and currently working as an environmental health executive at the National Environment Agency, Singapore. My role is essentially that of a regulator and policy-maker, dealing specifically with drinking water.

I was born and schooled in New Delhi (Don Bosco, to be more precise) and completed my B.Tech in Chemical Engineering with a 3.4 GPA from Anna University, Chennai.

Instead of diving headfirst into an engineering job, I spent a year working as the editor for India's premier music magazine, the Rock Street Journal, whilst also playing with a couple of bands in Delhi. This combined two of my passions i.e. writing and music, but I couldn't see myself make a career out of either !

So I completed my M.Sc. in Environmental Science and Engineering from the Singapore-Stanford Partnership (Stanford University & NTU, Singapore) in 2007 and have been working at the National Environment Agency ever since, making it about 4+ years of work experience.

I just had a couple of papers published, one of which I presented at the Singapore International Water Week in June this year, and the other which I will be presenting at the IWA World Water Congress to be held in Montreal in September.

I just took the GMAT a couple of weeks ago and scored a 710 (5.5 on the essay). I'm moderately satsified with this score, considering a serious lack of study time, but I could definietly have done better :)

I'm currently considering my application options, and am basically here to discuss these very options in detail. I'll expound on these in the main forum later.

Please feel free to ask me anything at all, from career-talk to academics to music recommendations, sports or even cooking !

cheers !

Namaste and Hi all!
This is Kjo...
Education and Work Ex Background:
I am a Bcom from Bombay! Worked as accountant in personal finance for 1st 12 years after graduation. Helped a lot of celebrities file their tax returns. Joined a BPO (the pay was better!) as an on line bi-lingual travel agent / marketeer (I knew a bit of french in college so did a couple of Commercial French courses and polished it) - quit in about 2 yrs ( guess was tired of patiently providing solutions on phone to the French & Americans sometimes abusive French & Americans....and saw no long term growth in the BPO industry for myself)
Current Occupation - for about 4 years working at the liaison office of a French multinational providing solutions in various business related translations (french to English), reporting finance numbers, doing miscellaneous duties as an Analyst cum Executive.
Why on PG?
to build awareness on all about MBA and meeting interesting & talented people, sharing knowledge.
Specifically looking for what on PG?
other than improving awareness about MBA, now that I visited the site, to share thoughts, learn from talented others, grow into a better individual emotionally, intellectually, socially.
Aim for next one year?
immediate aim is to put 15-20 minutes daily in preparing for CET in Feb 11. Am not too sure if I will pursue a full time MBA, but I am here to rise above my current level of awareness, intelligence in a relaxed and enjoyable manner.

Hobbies & Interests : Music (dabbled & still dabbling in Tabla and am an avid listener of Indian Classical Music, and love all kinds of music), skits & theatre (dabbled in skit writing and acting -directing on local festival / social platforms), reading about contemporary times (India Unbound by Gurucharan Das, World is Hot, Flat & Crowded by Thomas Friedman, autobiographies of APJ Abdul Kalam & Kiran Bedi, Fish are some books I loved reading, currently reading Imagining India by Nandan Nilekani), yoga, cricket, story telling to kids.
