How to tackle India’s rape problem?
Another day, another rape. People hold useless candle marches, arrange rallies (in this case, a bunch of useless pieces of crap rallied against arrests of the rapists) and social media handles like Twitter and Facebook get flooded with posts condemning the rape, political parties blaming each other and affiliated Facebook pages running propaganda stories to brainwash the masses into believing whatever they want them to.
In case the rapist scum are convicted, there are two scenarios ahead:
1. If the girl hasn’t died, the best the law can throw at the rapists is free food and housing in a jail for life or a decade or two.
2. If the girl’s injuries are so severe that she died as a result of those injuries, a painstakingly long process begins which starts with gathering of evidence, passing the sentence and finally, actually carrying out the sentence.
This is clearly a win-win situation for the rapist scum because if the girl survives, the rapists are set for life without having to worry about a job or business to fill their stomachs, as the government is there to take care of that.
And if the girl dies, the sentence is passed and the legal proceedings take years (even decades in some cases) to finish. The rapists again get to stay in jails, not having to worry about a job or running a business ‘cause they’ll be provided for, until the day of execution arrives. And that day is so far off into the future, that sometimes the parents of the victim end up dead while waiting for justice to be served.
The parents of a girl spend the better part of their lives nurturing her, providing her with the best education possible, catering to all her needs just so that one day, they get to see her stand on her own feet and become a successful person, enjoy a fruitful life with her own kids and live out her remaining life in peace.
One rape changes all of this.
The political parties accusing each other and those rotten insects who protest in support of the rapists don’t know shit. All they care is that how this current rape can be used to carry on their agenda and brainwash the masses into fighting with each other in the name of religion.
Most importantly, the rapist scum doesn’t give a flying f**k.
The rapist won’t care about the years of effort put in by the parents in their child’s upbringing.
He won’t care about the girl’s dreams, aspirations and goals of becoming a productive member of the society and doing something that would make her parents proud one day.
He won’t care about how the girl has spent years and years studying in school, sacrificing countless hours of sleep and churning out good grades after good grades, just to see a smile on the face of her parents and to see herself achieve her goal someday.
He will only care about those few minutes. He’ll do his thing and leave, hoping to not get caught. He might even kill the girl after the rape so as to prevent her from testifying.
All those years of blood, sweat and tears- destroyed in a matter of a few minutes. This is the stuff that nightmares are made of.
Now one thing I’m sure of is that no matter who runs the country, no matter who sits on the throne- this situation is not going to change. There’s no chance in hell of that happening. The jokers will keep changing but this circus of rape won’t.
And why is that?
The fear of consequences
A rapist plans to rape a girl (like what happened with Asifa) or stumbles upon a situation where he quickly decides that he’s going to commit a rape (Nirbhaya). In both these situations, the thought of getting caught must strike the mind of the rapist at least once. But ignoring the consequences, he goes ahead with what he wants to do. And he does that ‘cause he knows that the worst that could happen to him- getting free food and shelter for life –would be the best thing to happen to his worthless life.
Now I would like to propose 2 alternatives here to make sure the number of rapes come down, ‘cause it definitely won’t stop completely no matter how hard we try.
1. Chemical Castration
As soon as the rapist is convicted after following the proper procedure and going through the evidence, arrange for the rapist to be chemically castrated. Following the Nirbhaya case, headlines highlighting talks to pass the bill to allow chemical castration were on rounds in the newspapers, but as the weeks passed, the headlines disappeared, never to surface again.
The news pieces explained how chemical castration could be done in two ways- by performing surgery on the rapist’s sexual organs OR by injection. This procedure has been performed on sexual offenders in the distant past with mixed results and a passing of this bill coupled with thorough research on its permanent effects could do wonders for us in tackling this nationwide problem.
The 2nd solution is something that just won’t be accepted in this modern day and age but the helpless human being in me who loses sleep on a regular basis whenever a brutal rape takes place, came up with this.
2. Human Experimentation
We often talk about humans performing acts of cruelty on animals. At the same time, we use innocent animals in laboratories, performing all kinds of experimentations on them before deeming the products fit for human consumption or external use. Countless animals die in these experiments, which by the way have been termed ethical by many, just because these experiments helps the human race climb further on the ladder of development.
But what if we seriously replace these innocent animals in these experiments, with rapists and child molesters?
We’ve already seen how these are the worst kind of scum who won’t hesitate even once before destroying an innocent being’s life just to satiate a few minutes of lust.
Would you want these lowlifes roaming the streets where your children walk, play and go to school?
Would you want them eating regular food and sleeping in beds that come out of your tax money?
Instead of wasting your precious tax money on these scum, wouldn’t it be better if they’re used as guinea pigs in scientific experiments? This could possibly be the only way these worthless excuses for a human being could actually contribute to the society and humanity as a whole.
And here’s where the fear of a consequence comes into play.
Let’s say a potential rapist is planning to destroy a girl’s life. He is completely prepared and is about to carry out his plans when BAM! The fear of consequence strikes his mind!
Now, instead of a prospect of getting free food for life and a place to sleep, he’s thinking about the endless hours of painful torture he has to go through as a part of some scientific experimentation, in case he is caught and convicted. The trauma that he would have to go through, the mental torture, the effects of the experiments on his skin plus several more factors would enter his mind.
And maybe, just maybe he drops the thought of destroying another human being.
Nirbhaya’s rapists are still alive and eating off of our tax money, with the worst of them roaming freely somewhere in South India. Until Asifa’s perpetrators are hanged 2 decades from now, many more rapes are definitely going to take place. There’s no going around that fact.
Millions of girls are protesting against Asifa’s rape and murder with candle marches and on social media. A few of those girls- a very small percentage- who are writing down comments on Facebook or walking down the streets holding candles, are going to get raped in the near future and that’s the bitter truth, whether you like it or not. Without over 35000 rapes every year, someone is always next.
