Panel 3 kolkata, interview was of bengali language only, the chairmain said the written number is very vital, interview was of less value only.(as if I dint know that, but they seemed very co operative, especially the chairman was very jolly)
1. Tell me about yourself.
2. How rajya sabha votes are done? What are the values of mla votes?
3. Tenure of mp in rajya sabha, i said 6 year and per 2 year me 1/3 rd membera change hote hain, chairman said ki 3 year hoga, maine bole nahi sir mujhe pta hain ki 2 year, to wo bole ki ho sakta hain ki main galat hoon)
4. What are the types of bank, functions.
5. Digital economy ka fayda, maine cashless ye bolna bhul gya.
6. Asset aur liability kya hain? Types of liabilities.
7. Basel norm ke bare mein kya jante ho.
And then they said ok thank you, you can go best of luck.
*note: very very co operative, the guy seated in front of the interview hall was saying we want bengali people to become po. Overall pleased with the experience after rrb horrendous experience.

Quiet a lengthy post, so read at your own convenience. An experience worth remembering: I always wanted a lively interview, by lively I mean active engagement of all the members present, inciting their curiosity and to some extent disagreement. Coz I believe disagreement is thought provoking and brings the best out of you. Here goes the narrative. First was the ubiquitous question, to tell about myself, which I always felt tricky. Where to start and what all to mention but nevertheless I detailed the necessary and relevant things. I pursued journalism and mass communication in my graduation and the choice was obviously out of the box, and it was questioned too. I justified it saying I wanted to tread an unconventional path, the convention being overwhelmingly engineering, at least in my state. Pat came the reply, "you want to be unconventional, but banking is a very traditional sector". I had to defend it, and the first thing that came to my mind is Banking reforms and the dynamic nature of banking industry. The word reforms caught their attention, and rightly so ( my mind went blank here and I couldn't come up with anything worthwhile, only blabbering a few irrelevant things). Realising my discomfiture, they switched to my core disciplines. (Since I studied Spanish as a language in my graduation) "In which countries is Spanish language spoken, apart from Spain, and which countries were colonialised by Spain?" I mentioned a few from south America - Mexico, Venezuela, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, and others. (Forgot to mention many significant ones and that Spanish is the 2nd most spoken language in the world, after Mandarin, which IMO would have made a difference). A question regarding secessionist movement in Catalonia and if I supported it. A few facts pertaining to it. About the cities in Spain, and I could mention only two. Said I am unable to recollect coz it has been too long since I studied it. "I just wanted to know since you have some international exposure", came the reply. "Why media is known as the fourth estate?" - Since it acts as a watchdog over the other three pillars of democracy, i.e. legislature, executive and judiciary, and is supposed to be vigilant of the flaws in these three institutions. It also has to maintain public accountability simultaneously. "Is it really being accountable?" - Not to a great extent, being driven by corporate interests and political allegiance. "Can you name at least one media organisation which you think is absolutely independent of any outside influence and is anti establishment?" - I think to some extent Al-Jazeera is a relatively better platform ( This view was challenged, that It is owned by the royal family of Qatar). I mentioned it because it is among the very few organisations which challenge west imperialism. One member emphasised that CNN (US based) does a better job at it, and questions Trump's decisions for US. I said that most media organisations in US are anti-Trump, even if not blatantly. "It was nice talking to you, Goutham. Thank you". Apart from financial inclusion and Banking reforms, nothing related to banking, not even my preferences, were touched upon. It is up to their judgement and I am really not worried about the marks awarded. The ball is in their court now. Felt happy that I was questioned in the area of my passion, but at the same time I lament that It was too subjective and I could not capitalise on one month of my efforts to learn banking and financial awareness.

BOI staff is very friendly and they try to lighten your mood.
This was my first ever interview + am not primarily a banking aspirant so was hoping to get questions concerning anything except banking/economics but my bad luck. They asked me around 7-8 questions, all related to banking and I was 'kfuced'. They didn't ask me a single ques regarding my grad, life, interests, family or anything at all under the sun. The only person smiling in the room was me, they all had 'not impressed' faces. What are the lowest marks they've given in the past?
