Today IBPS has declared the PO - IV written exam marks of all the candidates those who are shortlisted for interview. Now every candidate has their score card in their hand. Since IBPS has declared the score card, many candidates are worried about their final selection.
It is a human nature, everyone thinks about their selection. Questions like, I got less marks in the written exam but my interview was good or I scored good marks but my interview was average. Will I qualify the final cut off or not?! What are my chances of final selection?
Now your final selection depends greatly on the interview marks. In the final cut off, interview marks play very important role. But, are we talking only about the candidate's interview marks, not about the performance of the candidate in the written examination?
No, the point made here is that the interview procedure forms the most critical section of the selection process. So, in a case where a candidate has performed really well in the examination but has had a very average interview session, might lose on the chances of selection. At the same time, if a candidate has performed on an average scale in the written examination but has scored good marks in the interview holds a very high chance of the final selection.
For instance, during the last year's examination i.e. IBPS PO III, a candidate who scored 20 to 30 marks ahead of the cut-off margin (a very high score) did not get selected finally as they couldn't score well in the interview. In another case, a candidate who scored marginally above the cut-off i.e. 5 to 10 marks more than the cut off, received the final call as they performed really well in the interview.
So, at the end of the analysis of the previous trends we realize that one should not lose hope until the final result gets out. Both the process (written and interview) are important, it's just that interview procedure provides a clearer picture to the assessor about the candidate.

have anyone got the chance to talk frankly with the panel members outside the interview venue? if no, then i am sharing the conversation,i am late and posting this as many of us are disheartened that their marks are not good or their interview went good or bad as per many of them!
i was listed for the interview at bom nagpur, when i stepped out after giving my interview then happily i was sharing my questions with remaining candidates then suddenly 2 old guys appeared and with smile asked what is happening, i said sir we were discussing about our chances, then they started talking like a friend, they were from panel 2 and they were finished with their duty! i asked so many questions, they told us-
1. we never ever try to know whether a candidate is a master in banking or not and we also don't expect 100% answer from them.
2. we analyze their aptitude and attitude and overall package, aptitude means that suddenly they will ask you a silly maths question or some situation based questions then how will you tackle it. attitude means they will see that how you respond in general conversation.
3.we distribute marks starting from the entering process, dressing, way of talking, we don't like people who try to give answers too quickly without pausing or thinking for 2 sec. we don't like a debate like interview or arguments, we don't like a candidate who interrupt us in middle of the questions.
4. when i asked that whether you sometimes try to irritate a candidate to check something, they told with smile yes, we try to see that whether candidate can sustain in a stressful situation or not, so guys if anyone of you have been irritated by panel members with some useless crap questions then it is not a big deal! deal is how you responded and with smile!
5. and yes we are doing this interviewing from many years and have gone through many candidates, thousands of them, we can catch lies in a second that a candidate is bluffing, so if a candidate is bluffing or showing over smartness then we give them negative markings, so we expect a simple i don't know if a person don't know, not some excuses or hypothetical theories.
5. so conclusion is that they are seeking a overall package not an iitian to work in banks! and after reading this, you all just see how you just answer their questions not how many you answerd!
wish you all will get it and in future it will help you all, so don't analyze whether it went bad or good on the number of answer, also they don't fail anyone in interview, if you were stressed then they will give you about 50 marks and if you gave answers or faced all their bombs with smile and humble and had shown that you are the banking material then they will give you way above 70! good morning! hope for the best!

Since yesterday I've seen numerous people saying that there were instructions to the interview panel to award moderate marks to everyone. Some are saying minimum 70 marks to all. This is alarming if its true. Anyone has any genuine information about this?

okay ......my 2 cents......
1-around 24000 candidates in general(cursed) category.
2-say due to various reasons like joining sbi po,,,nialcl ao ,,, sbi asso,,,,rbi...cat...xat...etc etc and bla bla.....10 % of candidates will not be joining ibps recruitment.So that leaves 21 600 candidates...
3-Now dont give a shit for chillar-party polls ....see bankersadda MAHAPOLL...around 5800 have voted in the cursed category alone....and around 49% of them have less than 90(82-84 24% and 85-90 25%)....now these are the smart kids who have voted....considering there are plenty of low scorers out there who dont have access to internet...there is a very good reason to believe that 82-90 guys will be close to 55% in any case.
4-So from the remaining 45% of 21,600 candidates high scores jinka hum kuch ukhaad nahi sakte like those who are in between(100+) will be a mximum of 20%(but i think it is still lesser like 15 %...but for worst case assume 20% of the 21,600) ....so sure shot guys wh are most lokely to be selected are 20% of 21600=4320
5-but from those who are between 90-100, i.e, 25% of 21600=5,400.
Out of these guys 2700 are between 90-93 alone...
6-aleast 40%of 5400= 2160. guys would have have less total score than those between 82-90 and had a more than just good interview.
7-remaining5400-2160=3240.Now 3240+4320=7560.last year around 9990(from cursed category alone) made it to the final selection....if the number of vacancies are same this year the no of students from 82-90 who can make it is 2460. but if the vancancies are 8000(provided 1:3 ratio is maintained) then 8000-8500 guys will be from cursed category...and our chance is 8500-7560 = 940..so around 1000 guys.......
8-OPtimistic case---vacancies 9990 then best case scenario is 3000 guys from 82-90 make it.but around 800 from blessed category jump from the blessed list to cursed list(see ibps advt.)
9- Worst case----vacancies 8500 and 400 from
from blessed category jump from the blessed list to cursed list.so 82-90 guys hardly 500-1000
PS::---I HAVE 85 IN CURSED CATEGORY. now dont cry like a lil girl if this hurts some blessed guy's feelings.Amen

Don't get disappointed with the written marks interview can be a game changer.
As per the initial poll results says maximum percentage is between 85 to 93 in general. so this is not a huge gap that you can't manage with interview. High written score holder might score low in interview..
so look forward and cheer up..:)

Important analysis why interview is important
1 marks in 200= .4 marks in 80
2 marks in 200= .8 marks in 80
3 marks in 200= 1.2 marks in 80
4 marks in 200= 1.6 marks in 80
5 marks in 200= 2.0 marks in 80

10 marks in 200= 4.0 marks in 80
means 2 marks gap in interview can cover the 5 marks gap of written. Similarly 4 marks gap in interview can cover 10 marks gap of written.
Means if you score 82 in written and 16 in interview then your marks will be equivalent to candidate who score 92 in written and 12 in interview.
so don't get dishearten with your written low marks.. hope for the best..
Expected cutoff for UR would be round 47-48 because
The least marks is 40.8 to clear cutoff..
Now at every 1 marks there will be nearly 2000 candidate..
so at cutoff of around 47-48 almost 16000 will be out from 24000...
So one can expect cutoff to be 47-48
