My interview experience
Date: 23-Jan
Venue: Syndicate Bank training centre, Bangalore
Panel: 1
1 PM shift Reached there on time. After certificate verification, got my turn at 3:40 PM. 5 members in panel. 4-male, 1-Female. Wished all of them after entering but except lady none of them paid any head and didn't replied to it. Asked me to take seat. one of the member (i think he was the lead) was reading my details: Name, state, degree, percentage, university, job. I was saying 'Yes Sir'. as i had changed the job, i told them i have changed it. Then questions started.
Int: Why did you change? - Told
Int: What is current org, salary, location? - Told
Int: Your current role? - Told
One more question on job can't recall right now. Int: Why do you want to join banking? Its just opposite field from your current domain. (I am an IT guy and working in an software company in Pharma/ life sciences domain) Me: sir 2 main reasons - Job security. balanced Work and personal life.
Int: Do you think banking will provide you these 2? Me: Yes sir
Int (leader): Have you read banking while preparing for exam? Me: Yes sir, basics.

Reverse mortgage- sorry sir, don't know.
He passed control to another. What is hypothication? - i heard hypothesis so told what is hypothesis. Then he said hypothication. - sorry sir don't know.
Who is president of Sri lanka? - Told

He asked 1-2 GK questions first. can't recall.
Then he asked what is FDI?- told
What is FII?- Told
What is the difference? -Told
What is the impact of FII on share market? - Sorry sir (i didn't wanted to apply tukkalogy)
Int (leader): Share market flactuates as FII comes and goes. -
Me: Thank you sir.
One more question. Can't recall. Then he said I am done.
After that the leader again asked, if there is a FCI warehouse in Kurukshetra? where they store wheat? - I give a thought and said yes sir.
Int (Leader) How they manage that means quality and all those? Just asking of curosity nothing related to this interview.
Me: Sorry sir, i don't know. My college was affiliated to Kurukshetra university but was located in Sirsa.
He said: ok.
Everybody said thank you. me to greeted took a 'Eclairs' from the bowl and came out.
Not sure how was it. Mine was only 7-8 minutes interview while others was having more more time. Bit tensed.

sorry for the OT.. I got BoB PO thru IBPS III in sept 2014 but I am fed up with the job bcoz of long working hours till 8pm, if I appear for some other govt job and don't mention about my current job is there a possibility they may find out about my PO job and disqualify me?
I don't wish to arrange for the NOC and want to avoid the questions like why are u leaving PO etc.
I will take up the new job and resign from BoB as soon as I get the confirmation of the new job.

How many holidays can a newly recruit PO in PSBs can take under different categories like
1. medical
2. for marriage
3. Casual leaves
4. Non-payment leaves.
P.S. Please specify any other holiday which one can get and i forget to mention.

After posting regularly using #intv for the interview was good experience. I dont know about others But I gained good knowledge while posting the content and forming questions( sometimes answers). It was a good preparation for the Interview which I gave, So in short my overall interview
Date : 23/01/2015
Venue: Withheld
Qualification: BE + MBA
Panel - I
Timing: 8: 30
I reached the place around 8:20AM and was Sent to the waiting hall for sometime. Around 9AM they started the roll call for attendance and verification. In 24 guys mine was at 22 which is not good for your anxiety levels. By the way out of 24, 22 were from engg. background
So No Problems with verification and time to wait for my turn. Since mine was at last. I started talking with other candidates and was good experience sharing knowledge and other things. Meanwhile we were offered refreshments and also provided on request ( since I didnt had breakfast).
IBPS interview in general are arranged by a bank and for us it was Central Bank. Only the panelist are imported from IBPS. We were chatting with them in friendly manner while waiting for interview.
Some questions for other students (wont put regular questions)
1. what is the limit for CRR%?
2. MSF
3.What is the use off your field
4. Some tricky questions to guys already from banking or NBFC or bank clerk
5. Some from Jobs
Regarding my experience
I was called in, wished 4 men together and 1 lady sep. Eachof the panelist had a background and were looking for details from the interviewee.
1 Panelist - A young guy was from engg. and had some sort of notes to question the students
2. One from HR( Lady) : To Observe
3.One from IBPS : To observe the interview process
4. One who asked most questions
5. One who asked least questions
So No introduce yourself or those kind of questions and
1. You have done BE and MBA { which branch I said Operations and Finance). So this is most suitable in Manufacturing, Then why not that and why banking.
Ans: I am Comfortable with numbers etc. { retort: Only numbers in banking is add and subtract that also is done by computer. Then I told that I do things in structured way and step by step and not in a haphazard manner. They seem to satisfied with it or not, I dont Know.
But they Asked question
1b. Do you know what a PO Does.
Ans. I gave some answer and was not satisfied with it. Then what a officer does. I said The task given by the manager.
2. They gave me a situation. Assume you have to open a manufacturing plant to manufacturing car. How would you do it step by step? { Logical question like this are my area of expertise and also I Can not Mug up or memorize)
Ans: Exact answer which I Stated
First We have to do a Feasibility Study regarding the factors affecting like capacity of the plant( 100 cars per day etc) area of the plant and these factors.
2. Capital. How much money we have for inevsting in the setup
3. Then the cash flows The money after each year for Manufacturing setup and through sales of car. Then Calculate NPV and some technical stuff.
4. Then we should so this or that
From this point on They seem to be impressed. They went more deeper in technical which i liked because I Read my course Books before interview in a Reasonable manner.
3. WHat is IRR.
Ans : Internal rate of Return. When the NPV of the future cash flows is Zero. This is generally used by corporate to benchmark their cost of capital.
4. What is cost of capital % generally taken and why
Ans : 10 % but didnt want to guess why.
5. What is Base rate?
Ans: RBI asks every bank to specify their Base rate which is calculated using banks costs etc
6. Financial Inclusion? How will you explain to rural people?
Ans. First I thougth He is asking, I you are willing to work in the field of financial inclusion. I said it would be a privilege to me and then he repeated the original question. After that I explained that you make somebody understand you have explain in parallel with what he likes. If somebody likes cricket then I will explain financial inclusion using Cricket. They said ok.
Among themselves they chatted if they wanted to ask more questions and decided not too and sent be away.
That was my experience as usual I cant leave without advising So here are Tips
Tips: Try to relax by walking in the hall assigned and discuss other students stories about what they do and etc. but avoid serious technical discussion.
Tip 2 : Student before goes for interview and your waiting. then try deep Breathing and try to calm down your heart rate.
Tip 3: Before Pushing the door. Thank God for his grace and blessing and while coming out of the room Thank god for everything.
Tip 4. Think the question through Before answer. Take time collect your information and Then answer it.
Tip 5. Do not be worried about the life of PO as Hell because you have neither experienced life of PO or Worse Hell. Give your interview with Stability and your future in mind. PO life is depends on various factors. It is time to learn practical things which will help you to manage your family better in future.
You have no idea how private firm or more horrorful IT firms work. I have seen my friend work with monopoly company still struggling with office politics and pressure. IT firms change Software at a whim and if you do not know a software then you are practically a fresher.
Trust in God and He will provide you good environment to grow and excel.
