How do IBPS calculate mains marks? Either clerical or po.? Plz explain. I have given sbi clerk mains this year with an attempt of 65 questions and scored 42 marks with 95% accuracy. So what should be my aim for now IBPS clerk mains?
Actual Interview Experience
Pre Interview:
Reached center well before time of reporting. Was asked to sit in one room. Then one person came and asked to arrange document in particular order. Then call came for biometric verification. Done. Then went back to same room. Then call came for document verification. Done. There was a minor date mistake in date of passing in application form. Told them and doc verification team corrected it in application form manually and asked me to sign there. Gave all the document related to academics. Also I insisted doc team to attach my promotion letter of previous organization in the document bundle. He was not agreeing earlier as it was not required but I insisted him to attach as I knew in interview it going to be a part of my crucial answer. Also you have to go empty handed in interview so if you want some document to be shown to interviewer then attach it at the time of document verification time only.
Call came for interview. Was sitting beside the room. The gatekeeper did not allow any document to take inside so I handed over the file to him.
Interview:
Me: May I come in sir?
M1: Yes please. Went in. Chairman says please sit down.
Me: Good Morning Everyone.
M1: Good Morning. So Mr. X Tell me something about yourself.
Me: Sir, My name is XX and I belong to X state and X district. I completed my XXXX in the year .. and then joined XX company and for XX years I worked for that company. Apart from work I like to hear songs during my leisure time and also read some magazines related to current events. My strength is that I am honest and punctual. ( I averted all the negative things and lie about previous job, went with simple and diverting answer)
M2: So you belong to XX state. Do you know what is the largest agricultural product of that state?
Me: Sir i guess Rice.
M2: No it is not Rice. (Actually it was Millets)
M2: Do you know which country in the world is largest producer of rice.
Me: China.
M1: So why suddenly bank after working these many years in XX.?
Me: Yes Sir I agree with you that after working so many years why suddenly banking. But sir since I was working and preparing at the same time so I took these many years to clear this exam. As you know sir this exam is now very competitive in nature and in previous years I have reached very close but got rejected due to hard luck.
M2: (Interrupting) It took you so many years to clear a bank exam( Trying to mock me and make me feel insulted or instigate me to give some unwanted reaction.)
Me: Yes sir it took me these many years. As I said sir I was working so it took me so much time. ()
M3: (Suddenly jumping in) So why did you leave your current job. From where you got so much guts that you left that job and you are confident that you will clear this time? (Again a lie here, I was already working and i hide that fact and went an unemployed. Previous job i left due to less salary and i used that as my last job.)
Me: (With a smile) Sir I prepared this time very hard and wanted to focus on exams so I left it.
M3:So why left it. Were you fired or you left it?
Me: Sir I was not fired and I left it to prepare for exams. Sir you can see in the document list, I have also attached a promotion letter I got in my previous organization and I was doing well there.
M3: ( He did not ask anything from then on. He also took the documents and saw if I had really attached the promotion letter). But then suddenly Lady jumps in and asks “Are you married?”
Me: Yes Mam.
L1: So it seems your father in law told you to get government job or is it your wife?
Me: Yes mam they too wanted it but I have the stronger desire to join bank.
( In between chit chat started between interviewers and some laughter shared between each other.) But I was sitting like a duck with smile.
M4: So can you tell me what is the difference between a normal laborer and small farmer in terms of agriculture. ( They knew I am from completely different background but the deliberately they asked me this question).
Me: yes Sir, laborer simply works in the field and small farmer are those who have less than 1 hectare of land.
M4: ( Seemed very happy that I even dared to attempt that question and my answer was not fully correct but still he got that I know the differentiation point. (laborer was correct but in second part actually marginal farmer have less than 1 hectare of land and small farmers have 1-2 hectare of land.)
M4: So do u know something about Priority sector?
Me: Explained.
M4: Do you know what is the percentage?
Me 40%.
M4: So do you know what is Capital Adequacy Ratio?
Me: Sir I read but I am not able to recall now.
M4: Tell whatever you recall. I don’t want correct answer.
Me: Sir suddenly I have gone blank on this. Sorry sir.
M4: So do you know what are the pillars of BASEL 3 norms?
Me: Sir I don’t know the exact wording but I remember that it was regarding capital and risk weighted assets.
M4: Any idea why BASEL norms are created?
Me: Sir mainly to reduce risk in banks. And the rules generally relate to how to much capital should a bank use with and without risk.
M4: Yes. Smiles and seemed happy.
M3: Have you ever seen a cheque?
Me: Yes sir.
M3: So do you know what is the 9 digit code on the cheque?
Me: Yes sir, It is called MICR, and it is used to denote bank branch which issues the cheque. (Again not fully correct but somewhat close.)
M1 (Chairman): So Can you tell me what are the current technologies in your sector.
Me: Told some new technologies.
M1: So why do you want to come here as you already know lot of things. Are you aware that banking is a very monotonous job.
M1: Sir I am not sure about the nature of work bankers do but to me it looks very fascinating as it deals with one of the important component of everyone’s life : Money.
M1 : Ok Thanks Mr. XX. Please take a toffee .
Me: I took the toffee and said Thank you everyone with a smile.
And on 1ST April I got this:
“"We are glad to inform you that based on your performance in the Main Exam and interview, the order of preferences registered by you, subsequent vacancies furnished by Participating Organisations for 20XX-XX, spirit of Govt. guidelines, administrative exigency etc. you have been provisionally allotted against vacancies in UNRESERVED category in XXXXX BANK.”
Exclusive news: National payment system(nps)has been scapped by supreme court yesterday.now all the bank employess will get regular pension after retirement as was the case till couple of years ago ..

when the online application process started in mid august i was just 2 months older for bank exams and ibps po looked a lofty task to me,so in the order of preference i just chose the alphabetical order starting from allahabad,andhra banks thinking i wont even cross prelims.. now with some persistent hardwork i've managed to clear the mains and become eligible for interview.. when i logged in for application reprint i was shocked to see the order of preference.. actually i was thinking i chose canara bank,vijaya,iob,indian,andhra bank(also wants the same now) as i am from south.. is there any possibility to change it???
