IBPS PO Interview experience: There were five panelists. Calling them A B C D and E. I enter the room with a pleasant, disarming smile. Wish them good morning at around 12 PM and take the seat offered. A starts off the interview. A: Tell me about yourself? Me : I tell I finish and wait for the others to ask questions. They look at each other, perhaps deciding who should ask questions to me. E was a lady panelist who was having a comforting smile. E: Ok, you work in a startup. Great. You must enjoy work then. Do you like your job? Me: Proceed to tell them that I love my job and explain what I do. C leaves the room at this juncture. B, suddenly, asks " How much cigarette breaks do you take in office?" A and D stare intensely. My lips become dry suddenly. I look at the table for water. There is no bottle. With a dry throat, I tell them that I don't smoke , while my office members take it twice during the day. D senses a judgemental attitude. He asks me if I had drunk. I tell no. E thankfully senses the stressful situation. She takes a bottle out of her bag and offers me. I lap it up thankfully. I start to sweat. Sweat badly. D then takes out a cigarette lighter and a cigarette box out of his bag. Tells me to have a smoke. I politely decline, saying it is against my ethics. E then, with the same reassuring smile asks me, if I would never drink or smoke my entire life? I tell her that I won't. I tell her that even the government says that smoking is injurious to the health of the people and the country. D , suddenly gets worked up. He is also sweating. E chuckles, and almost openly mocks D. He says, so you think my days are numbered and I have a rope around my neck? At this exact moment, C enters the room with what looks like a hangman's rope. He , with a stoic expression , proceeds to put it around D's neck. D' expression changes from angry to alarmed. A , B and C get up from their seats and hold D down. E , now in a direct assaulting tone, asks me, in a shrill voice, Is this what is going to happen to D? I find I'm not able to talk. I just gesture with my head, nodding it vigorously from side to side. E stands up. She looks very tall and intimidating. Her overall demeanaour changes. So he won't die, she says and pick up the lighter. She lights the end of the rope up, and waits for the fire to reach the neck , all the while looking intensely at me. I find that I am not able to talk or move. E looks naughtily at the bottle of water. I now register the abnormal taste of the water. It is preventing me from speaking. Thoughts flash in my head. Is this really happening? No matter how much I try I am not able to speak. E now asks , what will happen to housing loan prices when repo goes down? I stare in horror as no sound escapes my mouth. She proceeds to ask two more questions , maintaining a serious expression, akin to the strictest teacher in school. I answer none of them. She gives a silent, wicked laugh. She says says, you may go. Take your files and see if it is proper. As I leave the room I find that in addition to not being able to talk, I struggle to maintain my balance. Out of the corner of the eye, I see the panelists chuckle , remove the rope and put it under the table. I fall down once and struggle to get up. I see that while the panelists are generally laughing, E gently and nimbly puts the cigarette packet taken out of D's pocket into the dustbin. Our eyes meet. She mouths " Smoking is injurious to health" as I crawl across the room. I find enough strength in me to stand up, take a few steps , open the door and slump into the next available chair. Whew. Interview marks?
