I have been away from PG for quite some time, and thought of restarting in the Chit Chat zone. Was thinking of starting a thread on Blog Links, and then thought let me check up whether such a thread already exists. And of course, it did. And that really does refresh memories of PG - if you want something at PG, it is almost always already there!
So here's my latest blog post -
Top B Schools in India : Rankings 2.0, based on the value of their Website
Basically I came across a site that finds the value (in dollars) of a website. So I used this information to find out how some of the Top Indian B Schools fare on the basis of the website.
And the values of various sites came out to be in a sort of an order very close to the perceived ranks of institutes.
Of course this method has its flaws, but definitely cannot be overlooked. The demand on a website is fairly close to the demand of the institute. And the consistency of the demand can only be met by how useful the information on the site is, which in turn depends on how much work the college has done to keep the demand consistent, which also is a factor considered when normally ranking schools.
The idea is not to demean or promote any school - it's just a simple analysis!
