You can reject A, B, C based upon the fact that they violate the law of parallelism. between D and E, correct choice is E because D has subject verb disagreement also does not look like a right construct to me..

For this sentence, I thot the correct answer was (c) but the correct answer is (A). I do not understand why (A) is the correct answer. The number of women in the state legislatures (Has) grown - (verb) is not in agreement with the subject (number of women) which is plural.
Pls help me understand.
