GMAT Sentence Correction Discussions

"Exigencies are ( Iam using are ) undoubtedly plural, singular is exigency so A and D are out. A used "makes" and D used - "has". Subject - Verb agreement.

Now this is a tricky question fight is among B, C and E

I don't think past tense is required in this sentence as this will remain a fact, as shown by Shakespear' play and there is no mention of time during which these exigencies foreshorten the "dramatized....XYZ". Eliminate B

So between C and E
I would choose C as E seems to change the meaning of original sentence.

What is OA

u r bang on target.. deliberately modified option E to make it close to option C..

now try this..

The expected rise in the price of oil could be a serious impact to industrialized nations and severely diminish the possibility to have an economy free of inflation.
(A) be a serious impact to industrialized nations and severely diminish the possibility to have
(B) seriously impact on industrialized nations and severely impede the possibility to have
(C) seriously impact on industrialized nations and severely impede the possibility of having
(D) have a serious impact on industrialized nations and severely impede the possibility to have
(E) have a serious impact on industrialized nations and severely diminish the possibility of having
u r bang on target.. deliberately modified option E to make it close to option C..

Option E is the correct answer here. All other options are grammatically incorrect.
(A), (B), (C) ---- Wrong. Expected rise is not a problem but it can create problem.
(D)- Wrong. Correct Idiom as far as I know is posysibility of and not to.
(E) - Correct.
OA for the previous question was option A (missionPGPX has explained it b'fully)

now try this..

1.The exigencies of dramatic art, as shown even by the history plays of Shakespeare, makes the foreshortening of dramatized historical events inevitable.
a makes the foreshortening of dramatized historical events inevitable
b made dramatized historical events inevitably foreshortened
c make the foreshortening of dramatized historical events inevitable
d has inevitably foreshortened dramatized historical events
e inevitably foreshorten dramatized historical events

Subject is exigencies - plural, so, verb has to be plural. So, A, D is out.
good one.. I tripped with E.
"make" is plural verb. "foreshortening" is object
but C is correct!!

correct opt is E as 'and' is known as a parallel connector and ther4 tenses must b same b4 and after it

u r bang on target.. deliberately modified option E to make it close to option C..

now try this..

Yeah I think I should also go with E
Subject is exigencies - plural, so, verb has to be plural. So, A, D is out.
good one.. I tripped with E.
but C is correct!!

what could b the correct answer for dare 2

Hey, Is it B. Actually I was confused between B and E as others are out of scope because we have to use "few" here as seven people is a countable noun phrase.

I eliminated B because fewer was not clearly modifying the subject seven people rather than it seemed that it was modifying the "movies".

Moreover in B, hyphen means that the clause following hyphen is modifying whole clause preceding it.

OA please !
