Chapter 17 : 3 RC practise sets
Chapter 20 : SC explainations of above SETS
Chapter 21 : CR explainations of above SETS
Chapter 22 : RC explainations of above SETS

I dont have Chapters 1-4 and 18, 19.
Can anybody tell me that are the ones' which I have sufficient.
If not from where can I download them.

Also I wanted to know whether can we order these GMAT Prep Books online. Has anybody done that . Can you let me know the site. Also how much time it takes for the delivery. I am in Hyderabad and I have checked with many stores.
Most of the books like
Kaplan 800
Kaplan Verbal

are not available.

If we take pirated copy of OG11 is it ok??

as far as my knowledge is concerned no softcopy of OG 11th edition and of kaplan 800 exists..
also i have a softcopy of princeton verbal but the edition is way too old.
better go for a new one.buy the original one as along with it u ll also get access to 4 online tests..

xerox of kaplan books is freely available in the market
kaplan ki bhi latest editions ki koi softcopy nahi hai...

Hey guys

I had a query. I want to prepare from the Kaplan series from now. There are two books - Kaplan GMAT - 2007 edition and Kaplan GMAT 800. I would like to know which one is better - I have already gone through the basics from princeton review and various other sources and have been preparing since more than a month. I would like to know that out of the two books mentioned in the mail , which one is more useful at this stage.

Thanks.

i ll suggest tht u go for the premier edition now...
kaplan 800 is a super tough book and it is to be done only 15-20 days before ur actual GMAT and that too when u r touching the 700 mark in the mock tests.the level of the questions is too high to appear anywhere below 700.
but its a very nice book..
if done properly, its sure to add 20-30 points to ur score..

Actually these are fairly different books.

K-2007 is a basics book although the level of questions is pretty high for basics.
K-800 is an advanced end use book for people who think that they are above 750 already and now want to get as close as possible to the 800 mark.

So all in all, depending on your level of prep you could end up using both of them.

Cheers

Hi,
I need some clarification about a couple of Kaplan books. After some research (friends/online/shops) I came to know that Kaplan has 2 preparation books. One is called the "Premier Program" and the other is the "Comprehensive" one....(please note that i'm NOT talking about Kaplan 800)....
Could anyone please tell me the difference between the two? The difference, which one is better and why....
Thanks!!

Hi

I am planning to take GMAT in Aug last week or Sep first week.

First something about myself. I am a software engineer working in a MNC. Did my graduation in engg. Work exp : 4.5yrs

I have started Kaplan 2007 Premier edition. I have taken PowerPrep full length test and scored 640(Q49V27) . Along with conceptual mistakes, I made a lot of silly mistakes in verbal. I could not make out which section is my weakest in verbal. I made almost equal number of mistakes in all. So I guess verbal is very weak and may be SC is better than the other 2. Quant I didnt find very tough.

After finishing Kaplan 2007 I am planning to use the following material

Kaplan 800
OG11 and OG10
OG quant and OG verbal.
1000 CR RC and SC
May be Kaplan verbal.

Total time available is atleast 13 weeks. Rough schedule for that

1st & 2nd week : SC using Manhattan SC guide. Kaplan
800, OG11 and OG10 some SCs from 1000SC

3rd & 4th week : CR - Kaplan 800, OG11,OG10 and some CRs
from 1000CR. Some SC questions also.

5th & 6th week : RC - Same as above. Plus Some SC & CR

7th & 8th week : Quant. Same way. May also do Manhattan
Maths archive as some people say Quant is
becoming slightly tough in GMAT. But
not sure

Then I will start with OG verbal and OG quant in the 9th week to be in OG background near the test. And also some full length tests and that 1000 SC CR and RC

Is this ok.

Ingrid

Hey Ingrid,

I am surprized to see the exact match between your position and mine.
Almost scored the same in diagnostic test ( crack-gmat diag. though ), and I have the
personalized study plan which is exactly the same.

After a week long workout, I am now feeling that, I should mix up RC with all other sub-sections so that I won't get bored about reading lot of RC passages at one single stretch.

I also feel that, within Verbal section, RC sub-section is a bit tougher than SC and CR sub-sections. So I need more practice in that particular sub-section.

Though I scored 50 in my quant diag test, I feel that there are quite a few areas in which I need to invest some of my time.

The toughest challance for me now is, to balance my available time between
GMAT preparation and the work at office. I hardly get about 2 hours time during
week days.

OK then, looking forward to see you around in this forum.

Good luck,

Guys,
I heard that there is something called VIP question paper set for GMAT. Can anyone let me know where can we get those papers or if someone has a soft copy can you please forward it to me.

Hi

Chivas

When are you planning to take GMAT. Ya I agree that doing one section continously can be boring . So tits and bits of some other section can be done along with it.

Ingrid,

Started of with early Aug, and CWV is mid Aug. Not sure if it gets further delayed by a few weeks though !

Hi Ingrid/ChivaS

Even i am planning to take gmat in last week of Aug or 1st week of sept... havent taken PowerPrep yet. My study plan is almost the same as of yours, but i have also included princeton in my study material.

Hi All!

Any feedback on how good are 'Clearadmit' guides for different B schools??
Any links / Soft copies available??

Cheers

Right. I have read through the thread and firstly, thank you every one for providing so much useful information on study materials.

I have a a few queries:

I want to practise a lot of maths first and then go indepth into the English section. My english is strong which means that I can really trump in the section with proper effort despite the section being tough.

However, as maths is comparatively easier, I do not want to play easy with maths. I want to give it proper effort but there seems to be a lack of proper maths material floating around. What stuff should I go through to make sure than my maths (quants section) is steel solid? Please explain in detail.

Another aspect.. I saw people mentioning regarding the JJ sets earlier. I guess that would still be an invaluable resource? If some one has them (there are 30 JJs of each of the two sections if I am not wrong?), please pm me.

Thanks.

@Ingrid
Its always desirable to cover as much material as possible. But dont keep that as your primary aim. Atleast at the start keep it simple with OG 11 (why do u want to do OG 10 as well??), Kaplan 2007, Princeton(Some verbal tips might help u).
In your office you can always solve the 1000 SCs in your free time.

Rather than burdening yourself with the target of finishing so many books, work in a systematic way which will give u the much needed confidence (esp. Verbal).

One hectic week in office will throw ur schedule out of gear. So concentrate more on continuity and improvement in weak areas as of now. You can always plan for bigger things after u r comfortable in a few weeks..

I was solving the Sectional tests in the GMAT Power Prep software. I was shocked to realize that some questions were same as those in Power Prep Test 1 ,which I had given previously. I have also practised significant number of questions from OG 11.

Can someone plz tell me if there is any overlap between the questions in OG 11 & Power Prep full length tests. If yes ,then no point giving prep 2 test.

If someone has experienced this, plz give some info. it will help all GMAT aspirants.

Thanks in advance.
