GIM GD/PI Discussions 2012-2014

1. For XAT, 15%ile is lowered from the cut offs for Non-Goans.

2. We are not sure how it will be done for CMAT as we have scores and rank in CMAT.

3. Will try to get info on this and then let you know.

Hi Avinash

Secondly would like to know if cutoffs are based on score or rank , how would 15 percentile relaxation be given to Goans???

Please elaborate..

1. What i meant in my statement was that whatever is the cut off for Non-Goans, from that 15%ile is lowered. And you also are right that this lowering is done for Goans.

2. Since it is for the first time that GIM is taking CMAT Scores, even we are not sure of how it is going to be done. But then since Ranks have been provided, the same can be converted to %ile. And then corresponding Rank can be found out for Goans at which %ile is lowered by 15 points.

3. Hope it is clear now.

Great news then...
Any idea when will this criteria be decided..
even i was of the opinion that scores should be converted to %tile, so that it would be easier for further processing... 😃

Hi All ,

First of all kudos to current PGP2s :) who are handling all these queries and responding to them patiently though their end-terms are going on .

We all know that you all are eager and worried about the results ,i would sincerely request you people to wait for 2-3 days so that these people can focus on their exams . Till then keep praying for your results but refrain from asking queries

All the best

Hi Avinash,

When can we expect the gdpi list for CMAT to be declared? Its been a long wait...

just wondering, as per the gim website.... For gd/pi calls from either xat or cmat, the consideration of cmat score, acads and work ex is taken into account and not just cmat score/rank. How correct am I?...
Also, what are the prospects with score of 205, rank- 2873 and work ex of 2 years with big 4 company with acads 10- 77.4 , 12- 87.5 grads- 65.1

1. Criteria might have been decided already.

2. But it won't be shared with us as of now.

3. Let's see if it is being revealed when the shortlist comes out.

4. All the best.

It has already been mentioned so many times on this thread that the shortlist is expected by the end of this week.

Please please take the pain of reading atleast last 2 or 3 pages..

Avinash could u tell me what is meant by lateral placements???
And is the same followed at GIM????
Do freshers often get lesser pckgs as compared to experienced guys????
Does low mrks in graduation affect placement prospects at bschool????
Thnx

1. There used to be profile based GD/PI call earlier. Now only final calls are profile based. The GD/PI call will be purely on the basis of written score.

2. You do have a decent profile. But cannot comment upon the CMAT Cut Off. It's a matter of waiting only few more days now. All the best.

1. Lateral Placements : There are few companies who recruit those students who have previous work ex matching with the current profile that they are offering.

2. It is followed at GIM. But that doesn't mean all work ex people end up getting lateral placements. The obv reason is 75% of the batch is having work ex.

3. There is nothing like freshers getting less or more package. It all depends on the company. Last year, there were 3 freshers picking the highest package of 16 lacs.

4. Different companies have different requirements and criteria. So it depends upon the company. They may not like to recruit those candidates who have very less marks in Grads. But then such companies are very few in number. Mostly it will be your competence which will help. All the best.

Dear Candidate,
Sub: Post Graduate Diploma in Management-2012-2014

We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected for admission to
the two-year full time Postgraduate Diploma in Management (2012-2014) of
our Institute. Your admission is subject to your complying with all the
conditions for admission given below. Please confirm your acceptance by
paying the fees for the first two terms as mentioned below.

To facilitate payment, you may pay the fees for the first two terms in two
parts.

Please pay Rs. 1,99,000/-(Rupees one lakh ninety nine thousand only) which
represents payment of the first term fees, on or before April 16, 2012. If
we do not receive this amount by April 16, 2012, we will assume that you
are not accepting our offer of admission, and it will stand cancelled.

The remaining part of fee represents payment of second term fees of Rs.
1,57,000/-(Rupees one lakh fifty seven thousand only) is payable on or
before May 2, 2012. If you do not pay the balance second term fees by May
2, 2012, it will mean that you have decided not to join the Institute and
the offer of admission will stand cancelled. The above fees include hostel
fees for the first two terms and the caution deposits (details are
available in the admissions brochure/website).
All payments should be made by demand draft/RTGS transfer/NEFT as
applicable in favour of Goa Institute of Management, payable at Panaji.
The RTGS/NEFT code and Bank A/C no. are as under: Bank of India, Campal
Branch Panaji, A/c No. 102010110004946; IFSC: BKID0001020 (Type of
account- Savings A/C). In Case of RTGS/NEFT transfers please send an email
to the Admissions Office confirming the same.
Cheques/cash will not be accepted. Please note that the online payment of
fees must clearly indicate your name and GIM ID so that the payment is
correctly recorded against your account.

Attached is a form for Medical Report. Please have it filled in by your
doctor and have him mail it to us. Please give him an envelope addressed
to the Admissions Office with postage stamp of Rs.5/- affixed on it. The
medical report should reach us by May 15 2012.

In addition to the above charges you need to plan between Rs. 3500/- and
Rs. 5000/- per month for meal charges depending on choice of food. A
minimum number of meals at the hostel cafeteria are compulsory as agreed
to by the Student Health Committee.
Laundry services are available in each hostel which has coin operated
washing and drying machines of the industrial type, as also ironing
facilities. Students are encouraged to use this as a step towards
self-reliance as a modern manager.
The Institute has a number of co-curricular activities through student
clubs (indicated in our brochure) and these may require students to
contribute to the membership of the chosen clubs which could be of the
order of Rs. 3000/- per year depending on the number of clubs they
participate in. In addition all students contribute to their Placement
cell (for summer and final placements) which amount to Rs.8000/-
(approximately) per year.

The Institute has optional third language classes in French, German,
Portuguese, Spanish and Italian. These are approximately 90 hours and
students are awarded an appropriate certificate on successful completion.
The charges for the same are Rs. 6000/- which includes teaching material.
The courses are subject to at least 10 students joining. The third
language classes supports your application for the student exchange
programme and can also give you advantage in final placement. Due to the
interest students have displayed in these third language classes we
propose to run two courses a year. Students may opt for 2 first level
courses in different languages or 2 levels of a course in the same third
language.
The GIM Choir has proved to be an excellent avenue for improving your
rendition of choral music and also an exercise in team work. For the last
two years the choir members have secured distinction grades in level 3 of
the music exam conducted locally by the University of West London.
Admission to the choir is based on a trial and the grade in the exam is
dependent on the performance of the Choir as a team.
