In Scmhrd interview I was asked the difference between European and South American style of Football.
Any answers to this???

i said;
E: long balls, quick passing, dont like to keep the ball for long, favor wing play, long passes
Sa: dribbling, llike to keep the ball with them, mostly attack from the middle, short passes, one to one passes.

Are these answers correct??
Any other answers to that???

Correct my friend

Other points...

E : emphasis on physical defence, strong in air vs SA: ball interception defence clog passing lanes

E : Usual to play 1 out and out striker, maybe 2 whereas SA : 2 usually maybe even 3

could go on with other points. But you pointed out the best points
Ya,you are right.
But one thing I have never understood.
the initial teams under Wenger like that of Campbell,Adams, Viera, Pires, Ljunberg, Henry used to play football that was more or less conventional. then how come he has with in a couple of years made a transition from that type of football to the free flowing type or total football that we see today from arsenal.
I read many interviews of Wenger but could not anything with respect to that. You have any idea regarding this.

The transition from conventional to total actually happned within that era. Vieira started playing one-twos with Henry and scoring, even though he was a holding midfielder. Pires and Ljungberg would constantly switch flanks. Ashley Cole and Eboue would play more like wingers and less like def backs. Henry would regularly sweep out to the flanks and look for assists instead of goals.

It happened mostly because of the kind of players wenger had. It transformed even more with the likes of Van Persie, Fabregas, Arshavin, Nasri, Rosicky, Walcott etc who can all play right across the midfield, and even in attack.

Sadly we lost the art of tackling when Cambell, Vieira, Edu, Parlor, Keown all left the club. Which is why we suffer these days.

So its upto the players, not the coach entirely :]

the difference is quiet evident

Campbell, viera, pires, lauren & co were brought to the club in their mid' 20's r afterwards and its very difficult to radically change their style f play at this stage.

whereas RVP, Fabregas, clichy, ramsey, walcott, wilshere, mareida were brought in their teens. So Arsene had a philosophy and moulded them acc to it during their initial budding years.

Even guys like arshavin, nasri, rosicky & veramlen were bought because they fitted with Arsene philosophy so tht team can play acc to his style.
Ya,you are right.

arsenal miss the physical part of the game.. birmingham (huh zigic with the first goal with back of his head) simply outmuscled them.. teams nowadays dont let arsenal play the passing football.. and then the team had strong
players.. now most of the players are injury prone...

from around 2004 the professor started making a team.. with bright talented youngsters... and he wants that team to win something.. so he is not buying any big names...like the idea.. but that means you dont sell cesc in the summer...

arsenal are weak at times... and nervous to play the big teams in eng and europe.. thats a big problem.. as everyone knows.. lack of experience

C'mon you gunners...!!!!!!!! let show something at the old trafford..

Absolutely correct..
RvP pointed out the other correct ones to..

E- most dnt play with a distinguished ACM(except Netherlands n a few) n play ball from wings.. David Villa for Spain attack from wings mostly..
SA- they play with an ACM n 1 out and out striker mostly as told by RvP..

guyzz you must see this..
i hope this must have pleased every football fanatic in India..
n yes its a dream for all of us... we all hope it comes true 1 day...:cheerio:

Also now gunners don't have the kind of physical strength that was possesed by the likes of Campbell,Adams, Viera, Pires, Ljunberg, Henry. it's very difficult for a team to perform when key players gets injured when they are needed the most.
Manchester United agree summer deal for Everton wonderkid Jack Rodwell ? report - Goal.com

If this is really true(though i have always felt Rodwell was Utd bound in future..) then Utd are building up a great english backbone of gud players for future..

Here is my take on this.
To play so called Total football, teams need players with some specific attributes like passing, technicality, etc. These attributes can only be learned at very young ageThus having a excellent football academy which emphasize on these attributes is a prerequisite for having such teams.

Ajax's team mainly consisted of their players from their academy.
Barca too have around 8 of their starting 11 from their academy.

As for Arsenal, when wenger took over arsenal, he had a clear vision in his mind regarding this philosophy and thus spent huge sums of money towards improving academy. When Henry, bergkamp were winning trophies, young children in academy were being taught how to play football as its meant to be played and now time is upon us to reap its rewards for years to come. Emergence of mighty LJW this season is first among many more to come.

Though i believe this style of play alone is not sufficient for winning in england, as other teams play very physically. So in order to survive in england physical attributes are also required, this is reason why arsenal were bullied by teams like bolton, blackburn, etc. But the emergence of song since last season has given arsenal some physical presence in the middle of park, and hence are not bullied as they were used to be.

I think many will agree with me when I say that for the same reasons Barca may not be as successful in England as they are in Spain, and Arsenal would be more successful in Spain rather than England.

actually all the points for European would be too general becoz even in european the EPL, Serie A and La liga play pretty diiferently.
like english is all abt being physical, long passes and tons of counter attacks
spanish are a bit south american and love passing the ball...as an epl fan its sometimes annoying to see them toying in the midfield fr most of the game
and the mighty italians are known for their defence!
too bad we dont get to see the copa america or copa do brazil dat would be some serious 'Joga Bonito' .

Don't believe news of goal.com and lets wait for something official. This kid Ravel Morrison is highly regarded as one of the best prospects which have come through the famed United academy, but the kid is in all kinds of trouble. Accused of robbing, mugging as well as threatening witnesses. Wish he could stay out of trouble and concentrate on what need's to be done.

I quoted goal.com.. but its on every British n other Tabloids(even sum who gets transfers right) n even ESPN.. n to be honest he is Utd bound so its nothing much of a surprise..

Yes Ravel Morrison is in trouble n SAF is doing all he can to get him out of the court case.. the problem is his Gangster Company.. btw he is getting better nw as hes travelling to very U18 n reserve match squad n which shows hes ready to learn from his past mistakes...

I bet every gunner fan who dnt rate him.. he has far more potential than Wilshere(i do rate him highly too)..its his these issues which havent led him to break into 1st team..
hes a natural left footed LW n also plays a ACM role behind the striker..

Whats The Big Deal About Ravel Morrison?

Yeah dude this boy is a class apart..i hav seen him , Pogba n Tunicliffe play in Reserves n U18 matches video.... for me they all 3 play similar to the trio in bracket..

Pogba(Keane+ Scholes), Morrison( Giggs) ,Tunicliffe( Keane).. 4-5 yrs from nw on this midfield pairing will be great at United.. i expect 3 of them to make the cut into 1st team in future.. they r still 17-18.. SAF isnt rushing them bcz of Physical nature of EPL so that they bulk up..

Look at Rodwell , Rafael , Gibbs n Wilshere..They all pick up injuries more often bcz they were physically not ready(not bulked up) for EPL 1st team action.. technically they were definitiely ready..

Oliver Norwood(95%) n Petrucci(90% chances due to his long injury lay off) to make the cut into 1st team.

As for strikers Will Keane will make it(100%) n J King(95%) will make the cut into 1st team..

My Prediction for 2days FA cup Match

1-0 in favour of Man Utd
(relatively early goal in 1st 30 mins)

but Arsenal play better in 2nd half in search of an Equaliser..

Conditions Apply: the above prediction only stays after watching starting XI n subs...

Right Decision by SAF..u cnt expect Scholes n Giggs to play 4 matches in 3 weeks or so n considerin UEFA CL match.. with Anderson , Nani , Park , Ferdinand n Valencia still out i guess its a sensible decision to avoid further injuries..

btw O Shea is a versatile player , Gibson as a CM, Fabio does play as LW at times n i expect Rooney to play on RW.. with Hernandez upfront..

I dnt care if we lose with this team.. i believe its the right decision..
