But it's true Arsenal really lack a kickass cum badass defensive midfielder, in the mould of a Vieira.
As much as I like Arteta, he is not a defensive midfielder, but he has done his job to the best of his abilities. He cannot be relied for the full course of the season.
Diaby is too slow and too prone to injuries. He is a good link between defence and attack, but not an out and out defensive midfielder, as he lacks the robustness and the pace.
Wilshere is the most naturally talented midfielder out there in the side, apart from Cazorla of course, but again he is a great box to box midfielder, and not a defensive minded midfielder. He could however do a job in defensive midfield, but Arsene won't play him there as he recognizes his abilities.
Coquelin is an out and out defensive midfielder, and I really like the look of him at times. Quick, tenacious and hard working. Ready to play anywhere, so versatile. However, he needs to be more consistent.
Frimpong. Well, he is Dench. Not really an Arsenal type player, though you have to love his passion for the club. Can see him do well in an average side like Fulham, but not Arsenal.
Ramsey has played well recently in a deeper role, but again he played as a CM, and not a CDM. Big difference between the two.
