I think the difference b/w real ,barca and united is that real and barca crush sides like bilbao day in day out

I know this isnt the best squad that Ferguson has had at his disposal, but they arent that bad either...I mean if u leave out the injuries this is the same time that beat everyone to the final( and almost barca too in the final..
). Just need to be patient this year, we should be back fighting again for the top spot next year.
Btw puys can anyone tell me what impact will this have on United seeding for champions league next season?? Really curios to know how this seeding thing works.

Dissapointed as i am...i hope we can focus more on the EPL now(though city will do the same).
As for the seedings, the seeds are done on the basis of "Club COefficients", which is calculated on the basis of performance in Uefa cl and europa down the years.
We are currently 2nd (after Barca) (before chelsea).
Though there is nothing to worry about for the nxt chamions league. The top 10 teams based on club coefficients are put into a pot and then the next 10 and so on. Hence we may drop down by a rank or two, but we will surely be SEEDED in the POT-1 (Top pot).
These club coefficients also decide how many teams from different league enter CL (eg EPL-4, LaLiga-4, Seria -3..i guess)

Every one wants the champions league .. people going overboard in their reaction to manchester united getting beat by basel and Benfica is really weird .. for years Manutd has crushed such teams day in day out ... Every team will have a blip year ... I am sure Manutd will be back to thier best from nxt year
Everything in Football is a cycle .. where were real and barca a couple of years back they too have gone to long periods where they have been beaten by smaller teams .. wherent real eliminated by lyn just a couple f seasons back?.. AFAIK Real has won just 1 Copa del rey in the last 3-4 years ... 1 season doesnt make a team or a manager bad ... Fergie and Manutd will be back and so will chelsea, arsenal and rest of the english teams ...

The favourites for me are real and barcelona ... bayern third .. dont think any other team has any remote possibility of beating these three. they are just too strong. Although i would love that to happen but bayern aint beating mourinho and real.... their midfield is too weak, heck they were overrun by dortmund a few weeks back... how will they cope against a ronaldo inspired real...

agree with you vibudh.... UTD has been poor in europe this season.... getting beat by the same team that was trashed by bayern 7-0 says a lot..
but it has more to do with fergie than UTD being bad.... his team selection has been horrible and actually being in 3 out of the last 4 UCL finals has made them complacent.... so one bad season was needed ti wear them out
also look at the no of youngsters that UTD have.... they are yet to learn playing the continental way.... although our midfield looks the weakest ever since i have started supporting them except for that djemba-djemba kleberson and alan smith in midfield season, which is almost a decade now

Im guessing you're a charsi(chelsea) fan....
In the 2009 semi final first leg, chelsea played the worst kind of football....keeping 8 or 9 men in front of goal and smothering Barca....
Then at stamford bridge they got what was coming to them
, and Essien's first goal itself was a fluke....and Ovrebo did well not to give into chelsea player pressure and award farcical penalties.....Chelsea fans have to accept that Barca was the better team over two legs....
also, it was 3 years ago man...move on...chelsea have bigger problems this season (as in even qualifying for next year's champions' league)

All the English clubs have done badly this year....Chelsea is the only one left in Europe who will surely be knocked out by Barca if not Benfica....
the fact is that football has progressed a lot in nations like Spain, and England hasnt kept up...
La Liga has 3 teams in the Europa League last 8, and 2 in the Champion's last 8, those two also happen to be title favourites....La Liga is clearly the dominant league in Eropean football now....other clubs should learn from it....

Bayern have scored 20 goals in their last 3 competetive games....
they are finding form and quickly...
by the time Real Madrid visits the Allianz arena in the semi final, they'll be at their peak....they could very well knock out Madrid in the semis..
And if they reach the final, they'll be even more difficult to ebat since they'll be playing at home....
frankly Bayern Munich are the only threat to Spanish dominance of the Champion's League...they could undo both real and Barca...
but being a Blaugrana at heart, my hope is with Messi & Co.
