1. Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed today (26th July) across India today. Defence Minister AK Antony and the three service chiefs paid homage to Kargil martyrs at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate today. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26th July every year in honour of the Kargil War's Heroes.

INSAT 3D, India's advanced and most sophisticated weather satellite, was launched successfully in the early hours of today, 26th July, 2013 by European space consortium Arianespace's Ariane 5 ECA VA214 rocket launched INSAT-3D and Alphasat satellites from Kourou, French Guiana.INSAT-3D had a lift-off mass of 2060kg. INSAT-3D also carried the newly developed 19 channel sounder, the first such payload to be flown on an ISRO satellite mission.
