when year starts a boy proposes and celebrates Valentine day in feb
when year is in mid, he looses girl and celebrates Independence day
when year is about to end he searches for another girl and is ready to again celebrate Valentine day in next year........cycle goes on!!!

Happy Independence day !!!

Hi I was reading about Inflation a bit and found out that it is calculated on a point to point basis(I.E. If inflation for July 2013 is to calculated it will be calculated like this [WPI(July 2013)- WPI(July 2012)]/WPI(July 2012)].

Now I am a bit confused as we saw yesterday that the July inflation is 5.7something % so is this the increase in Inflation in prices with respect to July 2012 . If this is a case won't this give misleading figures. Let's assume for example that the food and energy prices fell down drastically last December. Therefore the WPI for December 2012 will be very less but the WPI for the remaining months in 2012 will be pretty high compared to December. So once 2013 starts and let's assume prices have gone up to the normal level and are rising steadily. Therefore Inflation will be steadily increasing . But come December 2013 even if the prices don't increase much since it will be compared to December 2012 it will give an artificially high Inflation figure. Could someone please explain to me where I am going wrong and how inflation is actually calculated
