The roll numbers close-by might be from Delhi/similar centers, where loads of people extensively prepare for such exams- and as such total number of selections there and number of selections say, per 100 candidates, would be justifiably be more- thereby increasing the proxmity of selected roll numbers more than other centers.
As such, I don't believe that close-by roll numbers in the shortlist is indicative of a 'scam' in exam result, though I very much agree that there should be transparency in marks. Firstly, CIL should share the marks for every candidate (atleast individually, if not publically) and secondly share publically the cut-offs for all types (Sales, HR, Mech, Civil) and across all quotas. There might be differences between scores from answer keys and what CIL finally put against the names and applied cut off on. That will go a long way in getting exam cancelled/retaken in case there is any descrepancy, or putting doubts to rest for once if otherwise.
Also, linking the non-functioning CIL website to scams and all would not be quite correct. We all know quite well how strong PSUs are when it comes to IT infrastructure and operations.
About the strong trend here to get the exam cancelled and re-conducted, though the concept of sitting again in an exam once passed sounds a bit intimidating as it were (who in the right mind throws a bird in hand for, well, just one bird in the bush? :P ), I will be ready for another exam, and another if there really were incorrect selections at certain centers. I am all for pure meritocracy and transparency.
