A milk seller bought certain quantity of pure milk. He first sold 20 litres of pure milk. He added 20 litres of water to the remaining quantity of milk. He then sold 20 litres of mil- water mixture and added 20 litres of water to the mixture. He again sold 20 litres of this milk-water mixture and added 20 litres of water to the mixture. Now, the ratio of Milk to water is 8:19. How much quality of pure milk (in litres) did he buy in the first place. ?

Hello guys , can anyone explain how "on a m×n chess board (n greater than equal to m),the number of a×a squares (a less than equal to m) is (m-a+1)(n-a+1)? Do we need to remember this or is there method behind this?

Can anyone give the solution?

A can do a piece of work in 12 days,B can do the same work in 8 days,C can do the same job in 0.8 th time required by both A and B.A and B work together for 3 days ,then C Completes the job. How many complete days did C work?

(I am using a flawed approach whereby I've taken the total popultaion to be X, constructed the Venn diagrams, after which X-0.82X i.e. 0.18X=36. Can't spot the error in my approach here. The answer is 162. Can someone please explain the solution to this one :) )

A thief escapes from prison and runs with a speed of 40 m per minute. A police officer starts following the thief after 5 minutes with a speed of 50 m per minute. The officer has a dog that runs with a speed of 60 m per minute. The dog runs to the thief and comes back to the police to show him the direction. It keeps moving to and fro between them, till the police catches the thief. Find the distance travelled by the dog in the direction of the thief.
