CAT 2016 registration numbers shoot up to 2,32,434; CAT Convenor must be a happy man

Paying no heed to the spate of Common Admission Test (CAT) registrations in the last few years, this year the numbers have raced ahead. At the time of closing of registration at 5 pm today (September 27, 2016), numbers recorded were a whopping   2,32,434.

A big jump considering that at the time of the initial closing day on September 22 at 3.00pm, the numbers were only 2,08,000.  This also validates CAT 2016 Convener Prof K Bandi's argument on September 22, that aspirants wait for the last days to register for the exam. The prime reason why registrations got an extension by 5 days.

The fact that registrations closed higher than last year (2,18,664  has  probably come as a big relief to all connected to the MBA world in India, The management institutes, coaching industry and most of all the CAT office. After all the measures put in to attract people back to MBA was no mean task.

Of course, how many of those registered will take the exam is a different matter.  But let's  rejoice that the exam that hopes to turn people into 'good managers' is again in the reckoning.

AB is 200km. A person covers some part of AB. at a certain speed and rest of the journey at .75 of the original speed due to a problem because of which he's late by 1hour. Had the problem occurred 30kms before he would have been late by 72mins. Find the original speed of the man? #doubt. He's late by 12 mins in second case because he travels 30km extra at .75speed. why can't we equate 30/.75s = 1/5? We get 200 as speed of man. But this is not OA. NEED HELP in understanding this.
