Madhu's monthly income is Rs 12000. She pay 20 percent tax on monthly income above Rs 2000 and she spend 30 percent of the remaining income. How much does she save anually

A 10% sugar solution of 100 gm is one in which 10 gm of sugar is dissolved in 100 dm3 of water. On heating the solution, water evaporates. So, a 10% sugar solution, of 1 kg is reduced to a total weight of 0.4 kg. What is the concentration of the solution now? [1 dm3 = 1 gm]

I think I'm missing a very basic concept here. Anyone who can explain how to solve this? 

 A certain sum of money when invested separately over a period of 2 years gives simple interest and compound interest as Rs 400 and Rs. 450 respectively. Find the rate of interest.
