Hello, I have graduated in June 2017. Prepared for various MBA entrance exams but ended up with only Welingkar finance. Being a mechanical engineer, can it be possible for me to enter in finance related job to gather experience in that field because I want to do an MBA in finance. Please suggest.. Thanks in advance

Hi, I'm a fresher, GEM. (Will be passing this year, June 2018) Scored 97.23 this time both in CAT and XAT. Couldn't convert SPJain, XL HR, MDI (waitlisted-982 😫). Converted- NMIMS and IMT (Obviously didn't want to join and left them) Not Willing to join any NEW IIMs, if I convert :p. So my question, what shall I do in the 5 month drop for preparing for CAT again? Some online courses related to Management ( Finance, especially) or prepare for CFA level 1? Or shall I intern somewhere or something totally different than these options?😅

Hi folks,
I am not a person who writes long posts or expresses his feelings freely like many others. But the honesty and strength with which I decided to give a shot for the IIMs has now been seriously dented, and that makes me write something of this sort. Please dont consider it as a post to gain sympathy or something which I am writing in a burst of emotions, it is my experience of 2 years with this selection process, which I believe has come to an end with the declaration of all the results.
It all starts from 03/05/2017 when I couldnt convert my IIM L,I calls and decided to give CAT once again. I worked hard solved thousands of question and gave about 50-60 mocks, scored decently in many, with IIM ABC in my mind.
Jumping straight to D- Day , couldnt get around with LRDI section and ended up scoring 99.52, much less than what I expected.
I knew ABC were out of my scope but did not got L (which btw I had @ 98.8 last year).Still picked up myself and gave my I, K, FMS,MDI,IIFT interviews.
All of my interviews were more or less similar with no highs no lows in any, all went decent.
Now lets talk about the results, MDI, IIFTD converted FMS w/l 79 and straight rejects @ I and K(yes not even wait listed!)
Now the thing is I have serious problem with this kind of selection process, whole year you work hard, somehow push yourself through this tiring interview process and at the end what you have to say to yourself ‘Maybe this is my destiny, will work hard next time’. Whereas your future has been decided by those lousy interviewers even before you enter that room. By just looking at your profile.
I know the rules of the game have already been set and so never felt bad for losing out on ABC call, cause I knew percentile isnt enough. But the decisions that are made behind the doors, during this month long wait in which IIMs “COMPILE” your result, and the lack of transparency with which these reputed institutes work, was clearly not some of the rules that I was aware of, I worked hard during the last one year with all the honesty in my heart, just to see the interviewers giving me negligible marks in WAT/PI even after a decent interview.
So, finally what I just want to say is this “ My fellow aspirants, you may have worked hard, you may have given your best and still after that life won’t be fair to you, But the only thing you would be proud of will be those days when you decide to give up on your short term interests for your dream. So never leave any stone unturned give your 110% , because after this you wont have to self doubt yourself.”
Same is with me I am proud of these 2 years that I have put in for my dream and I can proudly say that IIM Indore doesn’t deserve me.
