I have seen some commerce grads with a percentile north of 99.5 with an Application rating score of 26 as per IIM A's criteria and still not getting calls. So where does academic diversity play a role now? This really disheartens me. Shall I prepare for CAT 2018 or not? What's the purpose of preparing with all your efforts, managing a percentile of 99+, and being a so called non engineer with a decent profile and still not getting calls from A and B? Or please share someone's profile who got shortlisted from A and B as a commerce graduate with a decent percentile so that I know there might be chances. Please do help. I will start my prep for CAT 18 on the basis of inputs I receive on here. Thanks.

I must say it is really disheartening to work hard throught the year, getting a percentile of 99.5+ ( 99.8+ in some cases) and not getting the desired calls. This was my second attempt at CAT and i now feel that if someone is a GEM aiming for ABC, CAT is a futile exercise. If someone has work ex, please try GMAT ( way easier than CAT) and try for ISB ( As good as A). It is a fairer process that defines diversity by what one has accomplished at his work place, and what one brings to the classroom and not by gender and engineer/ non engineer. GMAT compensates for academic flaws ( unlike CAT).
Done with CAT and the quest for IIM A.
