QA this year was definitely easier than 2016. About 6 questions easier or 18 marks. However, LRDI was trickier by an entire set. And don't get me started with VARC's. People are taking those options at face value, and are thus confident about their scores. Trust me, this section will result in the biggest screw up of all, especially those who attempted 28 plus questions. Accuracy will and should take a hit with such a high number of attempts.
Conclusion: Cat 2017 is most likely at par with its 2016 version. Infact I won't be surprised if the cutoffs drop a tad below (Even more challenging DI, deceptively tricky RC)
Also, Slot 1 vs 2 debate is absolutely and totally pointless. Nobody took both the sets, so nobody can say anything with certainty. People are always going to vouch for their own slots. If there is any, there would be a loss of not more than 2 questions for those in Slot 1, but then again it might not translate to a higher scaling factor, which is unfair, but still possible.
Conclusion: Unless and until you have given both slots in the examination, refrain from commenting upon something you haven't experienced. There is always the fear of being made a fool of in the end.
