Guys I used to score in the 35 to 45s (80%ile to 90%ile) in most of the CL mocks - Varc section(CL's varc is considered to be difficult). How much can i expect in cat 17 slot if I put in the same performance ?

For those planning to leave job for CAT/MBA prep
I resigned my job 3-4 months before CAT last year for prep after working for 2.5 years. Fortunately, it worked out in my case.
Leaving job is a huge gamble because even if you succeed in CAT/any exam , convincing the interviewer is a huge task. It could portray that you cannot handle job along with CAT. It worked in my case because I had a good percentile and 2.5 years of decent work ex under my belt.
In case CAT does not work out in your favour, which is very much possible given the random nature of the exam, it would be very difficult to get a new job because you will have to explain the reason for the gap and giving MBA prep as a reason reduces your chance of being selected for a new.
Also, there would be added stress on you to perform exceptionally well in the exam. A few
If you have decent amount of work ex, you could manage with 3-4 months of gap but as a fresher/less than 1 year work-ex it would be a huge gamble.
That said, I knew freshers who had 1 year of gap and still made to ABC, but they all have a very high percentile(99.9x) and a great interview.
Hi I had one more question. my profile is 10th 87.33 - 12th 86.67 from Maharashtra state board. B.Tech E & TC from College of Engineering Pune CoEP CGPA 6.2 with 8 backlogs. Is there any chance of getting into ABC or other old IIMs?
