While crutches are convenient to walk if you are ill, its long use can make you permanently disabled.
- You can never become healthy and normal by permanent use of crutches
- You can never walk fast with crutches as a normal man
- You can never run fast with crutches as a normal man
- You can never play good game with crutches as a normal man
- You can never gain respect of others by holding on to the crutches
- You can never gain respect in your own eyes by remaining on crutches
This is precisely happening in India as far as reservation is concerned. The weaker section of the India were given the crutches of reservation for a short period to become better. However, they have now made crutches as an integrated part of their body and now they are refusing to part with it. They have now lost confidence to walk of their own without crutches.
Reservation is hurting SC/ST classes much more than the General Classes in reality. Let me give my reasons now.
1: Reservation in JobsThe SC/STs have reservation only in the Government jobs, which are sinking every year. There are hardly 10,000 Class I jobs created by Government of India in a year. Even if we include Group B or C jobs, the numbers would not be more than 1,00,000 as Army has no reservation as of now. Even if we include the state Government jobs and PSU jobs where reservation is applicable, the numbers would not exceed 3,00,000. The reserved category people can get at the most 50% of these jobs through reservations and that would be 1,50,000 for a population of over 800 million. There are at least TEN TIMES more jobs created in private sectors where there is no reservation.
2: Reservation in CollegesThe government colleges are offering reservations in all government colleges and universities. They are even forcing the private colleges to provide reservations. This is leading to millions of reserved category people graduating every year on the basis of reservation with lesser merit. They first face problem in graduating itself as they have to face the same examination as the General category candidates. Secondly, when they look for jobs, they can hardly hope to get decent jobs as compared to their unreserved brothers due to their poor performance. They are more frustrated now with a degree which can’t fetch them any job.
3: Inferiority ComplexThere is wide difference between the cut-off between the General category candidates and the reserved one. For example, the cut off of JEE Mains 2016 was as following.Category Cut OffGeneral 100OBC 70SC 52ST 48[1]When you know that you have entered into any institution on job with much lower performance, you can hardly feel equal to the one who came on merit. You, therefore, need reservation support throughout your life. You then want reservation on promotions to overcome the deficiency. This inferiority complex creates many complications in life as you never feel respected even before your eyes.
4: Mutual HatredReservation has created tremendous hatred among the people of reserved and unreserved class. Politicians totally ignore the view of the General classes as if they are not the affected party. The truth is that it is their rights which had been taken away for the reserved class. Indian Constitution guaranteed all citizens equality which had been taken away from them. The exceptions have become the rule and but for the Supreme Court intervention, reservations would have crossed 90% in India.
Reservations have united the upper classes on one hand and the reserved castes on the other. Since almost 90% of the businesses and industries are still in the control of upper castes, the lower castes can’t hope to get a fair deal in the atmosphere of mutual distrust and hatred. This mutual hatred is dividing the society vertically and may prove to be disastrous for the country.
Finally, the D-Day is here.
The day that will be the culmination of all the effort put through those late nights and early mornings. Its the day you have been waiting for since the past year, or maybe more. I know you'll all make sure it's worth the wait.
A few pointers, in case you find it useful:
1. MOST IMPORTANT: Please please make sure that you are well rested. It sounds easy, but trust me, many of you won't be able to sleep the night before. Happened with me. And a lot of others. I wasn't able to sleep for a minute before the exam. Trust me when I say this, your mind will be cluttered with thousands of thoughts on the night before exam. You'll have to make sure you get ample sleep.
2. The hardest part of the preparation is over. Believe me, you couldn't have been better prepared, contrary to what most of you may be thinking right now. You may choose to chill or to revise some basic formulae tomorrow. Totally up to you. Just do whatever your gut tells you to do.
3. A lot of you might be thinking of giving up right now and trying again next year. I would quote someone for you: "You have not come this far to come only this far". Attitude is what matters right now.
4. There might be many instances during the exam when you may feel like giving up. DO NOT GIVE UP. I repeat, DO NOT GIVE UP.!! Trust me, CAT gives you atleast 2-3 attempts to make a comeback. The battle is actually not lost till you leave that room after 3 hours. My strongest section, VA was bombed terribly as I was sleep deprived. But I somehow managed to perform decently in the other 2 sections.
5. Lastly, just keep in mind the reason why you embarked upon this journey. Keep it in mind always. It will give you that extra push that you will definitely need in the exam. If you are feeling short on motivation, you might watch a short youtube video: Time for War
ALL THE BEST CHAMPIONS.!!
GIVE IT ALL YOU HAVE.!!
Trust me, you'll be glad you embarked on this journey.
Waiting for you on the other side...
