Guys, I am in a bit of dilemma here. I have converts from SIBM, NM, SCMHRD and a call from TISS(MA & HRM). I am not sure about the specialization that I should opt for. However, I am a bit sceptical about HR since I've heard that HR has relatively lesser growth and opportunities compared to other specializations. If anybody could clear this doubt whether HR is actually less preferred or this is just a myth that people have ?Â
And what is the best among the choices that I have(assuming that I convert TISS as well) ?
In how much time can I start and finish with the CAT DI & LR? I'm expecting 1.5 months is sufficient.
 GEM CAT OA : 96.54, (91.15,93.45,96.48) . X : 89, XII : 72 , GRAD 62
WORK EX : 19 MONTHS,
WAT - I would give myself atleast 10 / 15 to be modest.
PI - Went really well. Around 22 / 30 to be modest.
Is there any realistic chance of conversion in any of (Ranchi,Rohtak,Kashipur,Trichy or Raipur) or should I start preparing for next year ??
Is time ka material better or ims wala? :P

[ ] IIM CAP interview [ ] Panel: 2 gentlemen and 1 lady. [ ] Introduce yourself [ ] I started out with my work n NGO .. One they were reading my form [ ] Why no remuneration mentioned in work ex area.. It's a plus [ ] Tell slowly don't be nervous.. Relax [ ] They took the wrong profile/candidate's form. And asked me questions on that person's job! Was puzzled.. Sorted anyway. [ ] Now they took my profile and started with my intro.. Again told about remuneration! [ ] Me: my starting n present pay. growth is quite good. [ ] What do you do in your NGO [ ] Me: explained our mission and that we are a registered NGO. [ ] What do you do in your work [ ] Me: Data analytics, SEO, SEM, third parry mktg [ ] Why only 69 in engg? [ ] Me: I was into everything but acads: college election (cut me in n asked did you win. I said yes), newsletter editor and designer, placement coord, NGO etc. Of course acads is irreplaceable but that time I was inclined towards the other opportunities. [ ] Why MBA [ ] Me: to shape myself up for a mgmnt career, improve my flaws in managerial areas, strong acad BG for mgmt [ ] Why iim [ ] Me: brand, alum network, growth (citing number of new iims) with quality, reputation. [ ] 1 prof asked on NGO's registration, audit statement, types of NGO ( I said trust n society), societies registration act, how you dissolve it, can it be brought under companies act [ ] Answered almost all.. I said I don't know exactly the terms of dilution and conversion into a co., [ ] Will you work on registering IIM's clubs to society if required [ ] Me: of course yes. And we didn't pay a single penny under cover. Got it done in 2 weeks but it actually takes 3 months at least. When they went to the peak of asking money we went to our mentor who is an IAS officer [ ] What is the difference between you and guys / men [ ] Relentlessness, way of talking (at work) , negotiating. We work with google and big sites / communities.. I'll be the one doing the talking n negotiating. [ ] Will you quit NGO for iim /work and vice versa. Cos you've already deviated during college cos of extra curricular n NGO [ ] This question went on to 5 mins I guess.. I quoted examples- where I draw the line and not get into critical areas w.r.t social activities. Told what my role model Dr Sunitha Krishnan advised- if you're not going full time then don't involve in cases, criminal areas etc. Told how I balance between work and NGO and CAT. I performed quite well at work. My teammates wouldn't have an idea I'm gonna quit since I'm dedicated. Also, during college I was not much of an engg material.. I didn't go behind it but worked on other areas.. Whereas my work is my interest so I don't give up on it.. So when it comes to MBA and IIM I'll be more than interested so I'm sure I won't give up. [ ] Your works are laudable and commendable.. All fine but how will you balance both, any real life example [ ] Me: my CEO. He doesn't endorse in the name of CSR. Very effective social activities. He's in fact keen on rural education and workforce. And when it comes to business he's a complete businessman [ ] Any questions for us [ ] Me: I'd like to know about the panel. [ ] Quite surprised n smiling- I'm the CFO of Dalmia (thank goodness I didn't know this before :P) and the other 2 are renowned PhDs teaching at IIMs. You should be lucky to study under them. [ ] They offered a drink and I thanked n left [ ] P.s: not a single question on subject or current affairs!

Hello friends,  I am currently working in a reputed MNC with nearly 3 years experience.  However I feel i need a change(an MBA perhaps) to grow in the corporate  ladder and hence weighing up my options. After digging a bit i found  about the various entrance examinations like CAT, XAT, IIFT etc. But due  to my high work experience and average acads, i feel i am already in a  backfoot. It will be of great help to me if the reputed members of the  groups can help me out regarding this. I have also considered GMAT but  coming from a middle class family i am not sure if i ll be able to  afford the university fees( i ll b delighted if its otherwise) Also any  suggestions to improve my profile is welcome. Extracurriculars: Nothing as such. I play chess well i think but don't have anything to show for it.

HI guys. Do you think Nia (national insurance academy,having gd pi on 24th ) is on par with IFMR(converted) . Any suggestions which is good and why will be highly appreciable.. i am not able to decide whether to attend nia or not. Please suggest with your thoughts and inputs.. Thanks in advance.
