Does future perception of your college brand matters in the long run? Let's say 10-15 years back, it would have been a fairly obvious choice choosing MDI over the relatively newer IIMs like K or I. Do people choosing K or I back then reap future benefits from where the college is ranked today? (Assumption: IIM K/I are better than MDI today) As far as I understand, people do get the benefit but that may be because I don't know many people who can explain this. On the other hand, many say that our college brand matters only in the initial 6 to10 years of your career and then it is the work that you do which matters. Now, should one risk joining IIM S over MDI(PGDM)? I know this doesn't make sense but is the "IIM" tag really that important? Also, ROI isn't an option to consider here. I am happy having an initial tradeoff of 4-5 Lakhs if the brand holds its worth in the long run..

I could use some opinion on Lucknow ABM. I have been waitlisted at Kozhikode which seems convertible according to last 2 year trend. Would it make sense to box myself in a specialisation just because Lucknow brand and the fact that placement are common? Other convert I have in case I dont convert K is IIFT Delhi.
Please help me guys.
