I can't believe even as I'm writing this... I've converted my best call and ironically my worst Interview experience. I still get shivers thinking about how bad I felt it went. I cried just as I turned down laptop's lid and waited for 10 minutes before calling my father to tell him I ruined it, worrying he may notice the shake in my voice. With overall merit rank bordering 200, IIM Indore it is. One more reason as to why PIs are unpredictable. You may feel it went one way but the interviewer may feel totally opposite! Should I write AIWTSAC? I don't know, I don't think I have such an inspirational story. Twists and turns? Many. Inspiration? Only for those who find it.

Someone wrote this in the previous post, and continuing on this.
I believed I had a superb interview at Indore. I answered all the questions I was asked correctly, and the interviewer seemed satisfied as well.
Unfortunatelty I have gotten a 1100-ish overall rank. While Indore is certainly not my best call, this result changes everything.
How can we ever be sure if our interview was good enough.

Here's an anecdote that I wish to share. It's related to my IIMI interview experience, and I guess it's something you guys could spend some time reading. I had a merit rank of 88 in the IIMI list that was released today.
During the interview, the panelist had asked me if I were well versed with the news around me, to which I replied that I wasn't. I told her that I'd started brushing up on current affairs solely for the interview preparation, but I'd found an interest so it was something I was willing to keep doing.
When asked the reason for this, I told her flatly that most of the news content revolved around some sort of politics and I was pretty disgusted by it in general and that I still wasn't keeping up with it much, even now. We had a brief conversation then, wherein the panelist tried understanding my definition of politics. I told her it was the dirty politics that I disliked; the international relations involved this, but in a more civilized/euphemized fashion, so I was reading up on those and was open to questioning on that end.
I'm writing this down because I want to emphasize the importance of "being you" in an interview. A senior of mine had told me, interviews should never be something you prepare for (ofc he meant the technical questions then). But I do agree that they should be a direct reflection of your personality, your traits and should give the interviewer a clear idea of what it would be to have you sitting in his lecture at the institute. As long as you've got nothing to hide, per se, you should be fine with a bit of confidence. As long as you have an opinion, an ideology or a belief that you can defend reasonably without being overpowering, you should be good to go.
I ranked Indore among the worst interviews I'd ever had, for this "banter" of sorts. Good to see I didn't fare poorly :)
