Guys, I'm gonna ask a question which many of you might find to be too stupid for this group. But I honestly don't know, so I'll just ask.
I had a belief that if a college A has better placements than college B, then it by default meant that college A was doing something right because of which companies chose to spend more on their candidates. Ranks can be manipulated but how does one manipulate a company into paying their candidates more for no good reason? This is ofcourse not true in every case, location factor, alumini factor, and many other factors also definitely play a role. But it was a simplistic model that I adopted to compare colleges.
Now, here's something peculiar.
IIM Ranchi: Average CTC 15.11 LPA (2020 batch)
IIM Trichy: Average CTC 14.96 LPA (2020 batch)
IIM Raipur: Average CTC 15.2 LPA (2020 batch)
IIM Udaipur: Average CTC is around 14 LPA (2020 batch)
Now, if you ask me, all these colleges are at the same level. If this was a race, they were inches away from each other. But there's a common consensus that IIM Trichy is a lot ahead of all of the others listed above. Why is that? What are they doing that the others, or atleast the ones listed above are not? I tried searching, but couldn't find any game changing differences between the four. IInfact Udaipur has better accrediations, so, why is Trichy so much more respected by MBA Aspirants?
TLDR: Why do MBA Aspirants consider IIM Trichy to be better than Ranchi, Raipur and Udaipur even though they have similar placement figures?
