Yeah, so I am taking an attempt at ranking the Top 20 Bschools in the country. This is purely my personal opinion, so feel very free to dissent in the comments down below. I have not taken any domain preference while making the rankings, (which should be a crucial crucial factor, but it will make the whole process a lot more complex, for eg, NITIE and XL are regarded as the best in country for Ops and HR respectively!) so keep an open mind!
Tier 1
IIM A, IIM B, IIM C.
It's completely up to the individual on where he or she wants to go within this bracket of colleges, regarded as the Holy Trinity. Imo, a person wanting a Fin career should go to C, those wanting Consult, to B and for those without any domain in mind, should go to A.
Tier 2
XLRI, IIM L and FMS.
This tier is a bit tricky for me, I have seen people leave FMS for XL and vice versa, have seen people leave both XL and FMS for L, have also seen people leave L for FMS! So, it's entirely subjective, though I feel people wanting Marketing and Marketing only should stick to XLRI. With the pandemic and online classes, preferring FMS over the other two is also a very valid opinion. However, without any of these biases in mind, I would like to rank them in this order, XLRI, IIM L and FMS, mainly due to the brand value, very personal opinon tho!
Tier 3
SPJIMR, IIM K, MDI and IIM I
I would rank SPJIMR first, due to its amazing placements and lesser batch size. IIM K would come a close second in this bracket. MDI and I is again very tricky, but I will go with MDI over I, due to the very high batch size of Indore and recent news concerning a handful going unplaced at I!
Tier 4
NITIE, IIFT, SJMSOM, IIM S
Would rank NITIE first coz of amazing placements this year (lowest 15 lpa!) and being the best at what it does. IIFT would be next, due to it being a proper Bschool when compared to SJMSOM. SJMSOM and IIM S would follow next.
Tier 5
SIBM, DMS, VGSoM, IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, NMIMS
I purely went with my personal opinion when ranking here, not a lot may agree. Anyway SIBM and DMS should be the first two ranks in this tier, after that, it is very subjective!
Notable misses : TISS (due to it being a HR only college, does not make sense to rank it along here) JBIMS (difficult for a non Maha person to get into here!) DoMS IISc (30 seats only?)
