P1. Good Morning Mr Himanshu.
Me. Good Morning Sir.
P1. How are you doing.
Me. I am doing well sir. I hope you are fine too.
P1. Yea, I am fine. Thank you. Are you nervous?
Me. No sir, I am excited as this is my first ever B school Interview.
P1. Wonderful. Congratulations. So now when it is your first B School Interview, why do not u introduce yourself in a way that helps me, and my other partner Panellist know something about you which is already not mentioned on your form.
Me. So sir I am to say which is not on my application form, right?
P1. Yes, go ahead.
Me. Told him about the rural background and Hindi education. Told about the struggle with English at NITT and mentioned that I overcame it.
P1 and P2 both together. Wow, that is wonderful.
P1: Can you tell us some of Criticisms on higher education.
Me. Sir there is no serious criticism I can recall of except
There is very less funding on research, but I believe that is not a direct criticism.
I think, at least for engineering case, there is too much focus on theory and too less on practical learning. As an example, there were 63 courses in my BTech and only 13 were lab courses. So, I think we can strike a balance between theory and practical learning as currently there is too much emphasis on theory and too less on experimental learning. So, I believe that is one issue, at least for engineering.
P1. You have worked a lot upon yourself. Now when u have worked on English, where further u wishes to improve yourself on.
Me. Told that sir I believe my knowledge of markets and finance is limited as of now and I wish to explore these fields in detail. Also, I am fascinated with marketing too as I worked in 2 internships under marketing domain and liked the domain through my experience.
P1. Okk, now apart from anything that relates to MBA. Tell me your one weakness which u want to work upon.
Me. Sir, I believe that me being an adaptive person, it comes with an added habit of quick reaction. I react quickly when I am thrown at surprise in some situations and I believe this hobby can help in some situations but if I am to take key decisions, I believe I need to work on this approach.
P1. Ok tell me an incident where this hobby helped you and one when it backfired.
Me. Gave examples. Average, not well structured but hopefully they got the message.
P1. So that's good Himanshu. Now over to P2. U take him from now.
P2. Himanshu, so what does your name mean.
Me. Told that it means moon and in fact I was named after moon.
P2. (Looking confused) Himanshu should mean Him and Ansh right.
Me. Yes sir. It is broken as Him and Ansh. However, it is a synonym of moon.
P2. Okk so your name has nothing to do with Himalayas.
Me. (Laughing) Maybe yes sir as I was born in Kalka which is in Himachal Pradesh. My mom dad was at my grannies at my time of birth as my granddad works in Kalka in a mechanical industry.
P2. Ok so tell me, what is going on in Himalayas. Any two recent incidents only.
Me. Told 1st Tapovan tunnel one.
2nd India China Disengagement at LAC.
P2. Okk so do u know about Mount Kailash.
Me. Yes sir. I am not sure of any other details, but I know about Mount Kailash which is a Hindu deity place.
P2. What is special about Kailash.
Me. Told that Shiv ka house mana jata h.
P2. Any recent developments u is aware of at Kailash?
Me. No sir. I cannot recall it.
P2. No worries. So Himanshu, what are u doing now.
Me. Told that I am placed at Reliance as a GET.
P2. What is your role there?
Me. Told that it is a training program for 1 yr. and some details.
P2. So, u Graduated in 2020, and joined reliance now. How this gapย
Me. Smiled and said, courtesy of COVID-19. Then explained my deferment.
P2. Coming in a joke mood himself. Ok so tell me about reliance.
Me. Asked sir reliance oil and gas or reliance as a whole?
P2. Said tell me business of reliance.
Me. Told all names.
P2. Ok tell me about Amazon and reliance dispute.
Me. Told in detail but used futures group name instead of futures retail (silly me). (Answer was partially incorrect too.)
P2. Okk do u know the highest stakeholders in Futures.
Me. Sir if reliance acquires it, it will be reliance. Prior to that I am not aware of.
P2. Okk, does not matter.
P2. So, I am done Himanshu. It was good talking to you.
P1. Himanshu it was good having u today. I hope as u worked on your English, u keep working on your other weaknesses and grow better. All the best for your future.
You can log off now.
Me. Thank you so much sir.

My weakness example could have been way better.ย
Futures group question, my answer was not great. Clear lack of awareness about issue.ย

Does anyone know about the revised admission criteria of IIM Indore?
ppl with 3 month notice period (IT doods) .. when are u guys planning to drop the papers? Results come on april end or may start and that ย wont be an ideal time right? anyone have faced this situation last year?
It's been one month since IIM K interview and it still haunts me. Luckily, I got a call at 85 percentile. Unluckily, it was my first ever B school interview. Every night since then, I think about the questions that was asked and even today I don't know the answers (Yes, I checked my books).ย
One of the questions went like
"Suppose the cost price of this pen is rs100, I want to keep the profit margin at rs25, What should be the selling price?" Despite answering Rs.125 and also answering rs140 from a marketing perspective. He kept me utterly confused and till today, I don't know what exactly was his question. He taunted me. The other panelist also used my existing confusion by asking some of the academic questions, that i still don't know the answer of. I planned a come back by not allowing the interview to end and making them ask some questions that I certainly have extinsive information on.ย
To be honest, I am not over it, I blew my only lucky chance at one of the blacki. My self-esteem ย has been scarred atleast for a few months now.ย
