How is Elites Grid for CAT? I have heard about it but was wondering if there are any better alternatives.
How to improve my writing skills and I'm facing problem in grammar, can anyone suggest some ideas?
Anyone has 2019 aimcat/simcat/cl mock papers?
People waitlisted at FINANCE specialization who are not joining SPJIMR. This as per the ORIGINAL waitlist. It'll be a great help for those who are waitlisted. https://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/official-spjimr-2-year-pgdm-admission-2020-22-pagalguy-53409057809537/78690428938586
These are the reasons why I think that a complete year cannot be online in India. I maybe wrong in some points so plz do correct me 1) more than 21.9% of indians are below poverty line, expecting them to have a laptop or similar electronic gadget is ludacris. 2) almost 47% households in India have electricity for more than 12 hours, so there is a heavy electricity shortage. 3) still a lot of regions in india have poor or no accessibility to internet. 4) even if some families have a laptop or say a smartphone and they have more than a kid which is the most common scenario in India, one kid will always be sacrificed. 5) all the shops selling stationary items will have to be closed as there will be no demand, this in turn will effect big companies like natraj which will then venture into a different businesses or shut down altogether. 6) now if students won't be able to learn they will not pay fees and therefore the schools will not pay fees to the teachers and massive unemployment will occur in education system leading to closing down of many schools as it will be highly infeasible. 7) the internet service providers have to pay the AGR imposed on them therefore they will increase the prices of data packs and it will become very expensive for common people to afford an unlimited pack. 8) most important point...if schools will have to open then obviously colleges will open. It is a possibility that a trimester goes online, but plz dont get into the trap set by the waitlist warriors that the college can go online for a complete year. Yes they are prepared to do so but it is highly unlikely to happen due to above stated simple reasons.
 Asking in a neutral group.
Which will fetch more value, outcome and industry recognition in the longer run and best option in current COVID scenario?
I have 2.5yrs of IT exp. (Placements alone is not a mojar concern as I already have a sabbatical).Â
Note: VGSOM is obvisously ranked better than GLIM but my concern is how long will it take to open such a large campus and secondly do all industries value MBA from Tech giant IIT the same way the aspirants do.Â

Hello guys, It's pretty late but need your advice. So I am in final year will pass-out in the next few months if/when exams get conducted. A little bit background about me: Never been a studious one your typical one of the last 5guys in the class. Passed the boards with one nighters and btech with one nighters+cheating+a few dozen backlogs. Hence 10th:85.5 12th:69.6 UG:60. Appeared in cat19 scored 75.xx%(66marks) without prep. I know it's v.v.v low so this year I will prepare starting today(I know I wasted a lot of these lockdown months, regretting now). So I would like your guidance in the preparation strategy,I don't have study material nor do I know the syllabus and neither have I studied in all these years so a guide to how to start studying and a way to get into one of the old IIMs(I know it's a very far fetched dream) also I have OBC certificate (plz spare the reservation speech). Looking forward to your help. Also which exams other than CAT registration should be done. Also can it be done without going a coaching centre
So after all the results, I have converted MDI PGP-IM and VGSOM along with new IIMS. As per my analysis: MDI PGPIM> VGSOM> NEW IIMS But PGPIM is damn expensive and I dont want want to stress myself/family with huge loan considering tough times. Is it a wise decision to opt for VGSOM over MDI PGPIM considering ROI and other factors. Kindly advise. Thanks in Advance!
Hey guys...Please help me decide. I have converted IIMK and am skeptical about joining it this year, given the situation of the economy and the probability of online classes. Is there anyone who is foregoing their best converts on account of these factors and aiming for CAT20?

Demand is at an all time low, government tries to inject supply side credit through very risk averse and already broke banks that have clearly signaled they will have none of this farce... Does the economy have any hope at all? Is there anyone in the government that understands what they're getting us into?
Which one to choose?

How are placements for people with more than 3 years of work experience. I have 3 years of product development (IT) experience as of now. What roles can I expect during placements? In short does it even make sense to repeat again ?
I have a doubt in a RC of SIMCAT 6 of 2018 season. Kindly help.
There are a total of 3 questions in the RC. I am posting the other 2 as well for those who read the entire thing and want to practice.

The complexity of modern problems often precludes any one person from fully understanding them. Factors contributing to rising obesity levels, for example, include transportation systems and infrastructure, media, convenience foods, changing social norms, human biology and psychological factors. Designing an aircraft carrier, to take another example, requires knowledge of nuclear engineering, naval architecture, metallurgy, hydrodynamics, information systems, military protocols, the exercise of modern warfare and, given the long building time, the ability to predict trends in weapon systems.
The multidimensional or layered character of complex problems undermines the principle of meritocracy: the idea that the âbest personâ should be hired. There is no best person. When putting together an oncological research team, a biotech company would not construct a multiple-choice test and hire the top scorers, or hire people whose resume`s score highest according to some performance criteria. Instead, they would seek diversity. They would build a team of people who bring diverse knowledge bases, tools and analytic skills. That team would more likely than not include mathematicians. And the mathematicians would likely study dynamical systems and differential equations.
Believers in a meritocracy might grant that teams ought to be diverse but then argue that meritocratic principles should apply within each category. Thus the team should consist of the âbestâ mathematicians, the âbestâ oncologists, and the âbestâ biostatisticians from within the pool.
That position suffers from a similar flaw. Even within a knowledge domain, no test or criteria applied to individuals will produce the best team. Each of these domains possesses such depth and breadth, that no test can exist. Consider the field of neuroscience. Upwards of 50,000 papers were published last year covering various techniques, domains of enquiry and levels of analysis, ranging from molecules and synapses up through networks of neurons. Given that complexity, any attempt to rank a collection of neuroscientists from best to worst, as if they were competitors in a race, must fail. What could be true is that given a specific task and the composition of a particular team, one scientist would be more likely to contribute than another. Optimal hiring depends on context. Optimal teams will be diverse. Evidence for this claim can be seen in the way that papers and patents that combine diverse ideas tend to rank as high-impact.
Yet the fallacy of meritocracy persists. Corporations, non-profits, governments, universities and even preschools test, score and hire the âbestâ. This all but guarantees not creating the best team. Ranking people by common criteria produces homogeneity. And when biases creep in, it results in people who look like those making the decisions. Thatâs not likely to lead to breakthroughs. As Astro Teller, CEO of X, the âmoon shoot factoryâ at Alphabet, Googleâs parent company, has said: âHaving people who have different mental perspectives is whatâs important. If you want to explore things you havenât explored, having people who think just like you is not the best way.â We must see the forest.
 My doubt question:
Q What does the author mean by saying âWe must see the forestâ?
A) Instead of focusing on the perfect individual for a job, one must focus on the best team for the job.Â
B) It is important to have a diverse team to tackle the different individual issues in a project or job.Â
C) Any specific problem needs to be seen from the perspective of a team and not from that of a member of the team.Â
D) It makes sense to have a diverse team with different specializations in order to avoid homogeneity.Â
*******************************************************************************
Other 2 Qs
Â
Q What, according to the author, is the fallacy of meritocracy?
A) The view that superlative ability or performance should be prioritized above diversity when hiring peopleÂ
B) The view that problem-solving teams should be diverse rather than made up of the âbestâ people in each fieldÂ
C) The idea that only the âbestâ individuals in a field, rather than teams of people, can solve complex problemsÂ
D) The idea that the best person should be identified and hired to solve the complex modern problemsÂ
Â
Q Which of these, if true, would most strengthen the authorâs assertion that âthere is no best personâ for any job?
A) Every field of knowledge today is vast and complex, requiring a high level of understanding of each aspect.Â
B) Training in a specific field of knowledge often ignores training people in soft skills such as effective communication and almost all jobs require such skills.Â
C) The complexity inherent in any field of knowledge today is too high to be adequately evaluated by any test.Â
D) Training on the job in any field of expertise has been consistently proved to be more effective in creating people suited for the field than informing potential job seekers through academic courses on the subject.Â
Guys, so I'm at a really crucial point. I'm a 2017 GEM graduate. My CAP interview didn't go well at all, and my grad score is also low. I resigned in February as well. Does it make sense to attempt CAT 2020 or do I go with the options below which I have converted. Interested in finance btw.
