Genuine suggestion plz, My journey so far IIM A FABM - rejected IIM KOZHIKODE - rejected IIM LUCKNOW ABM - waitlisted towards the end, highly impossible to convert What I've - IIM SHILLONG(WL 216), IIM TRICHY- nothing can be said for now IIM udaipur, IRMA - most likely to convert Ohters- IIM AMRITSAR, IIM VIZAG (will not go this low to join) Going through anxious time with this much of rejection. I know, I wasn't able to give my best in PI. My profile -(nothing extraordinary) 10th- 93.1 12th- 82 Grad- 81(fresher) /Bsc Agri - State Univ CAT 2019- 95%ile- can't say that was my best- if the verbal section hadn't gone that bad (my best could have been around 98) Though, this was my first attempt at CAT - had prepared seriously for more than one and a half year. As of now only IIM UDAIPUR seems a convert. Should I join it or take a drop, looking at the unpredictable nature of the exam? PS - yet to graduate.

 Many people here have posted about high percentiles not leading to the converts that they expected. I sympathize with them and hope their hard work pays fruit.

What baffles me, though, is why some people are surprised that a high percentile is not enough to get that elusive convert. There are those that blame their background as engineers, their gender, a lack of reservation, a lack of work experience, or any combination of these. But why should any of this be a surprise? The criteria for selection is laid out quite clearly by most institutes. That these institutes are going the Western way in their belief that an MBA is meant for someone with a couple of years of work under their belt is an undeniable truth that has been clearly evident for a while. They allot outsized weightage to work-ex that is difficult to overcome with performance in CAT alone for a fresher. Similar is their belief in diversity as a value add. 

Reservation based on caste or gender is something that people agree with or not depending on their views on how it would be best to overcome decades of systemic bias. These reservations and categories are, for the most part, out of the hands of the institutes and are a fact of life that all CAT aspirants must deal with.

Going back to my original point, why should a high CAT percentile failing to be sufficient for a convert be a surprise? With the criteria being as they stand, such would be the exception rather than the norm. Once again, I sympathize with the feelings of those who worked hard and performed outrageously well yet failed to get the colleges of their dreams. I wish them good luck in their endeavors. And, I have nothing against engineers, GEM's, GEMF's or any variant of these. All I want to point out is that the rules of the game are known. Min-maxing, as those who play RPG's would know, can fail to work. The institutes want people with extreme performance in CAT and yet have work experience. They have made their view clear by designing the selection criteria in particular ways. Meeting one aspect while not meeting the other is not a hugely probable way to success. 

P.S. - I have nothing against anyone - engineer, fresher, those with reservation or otherwise. Please do not consider the above sentences to be against any particular person or group.

Query regarding IIMA's process of giving calls... 1) Top 100 students from all streams ( students just have to clear sectional cutoffs and score more than 80th percentile score in grad) 2) Remaining calls are purely based on composite score regardless of stream . So at first stage, students need to clear sectional cut-offs and minimum cutoffs of 10/12/graduation. And if one clears this then on the basis of cat score they will call top 100 from each stream at first stage and at second stage composite score will come into action. So for example, if one have 85/85/85 and cat percentile rank is under 100 in particular stream then he/she will get the call at first stage as compared to the one who has 9/9/9 acads but his/her cat percentile rank is not under 100 for that stream. This other one may get the call at second stage due to composite score but not a first stage as rank is not in first 100 of the stream. Is this the case?

Converted SIBM, NITIE and all the new IIM's. Waitlisted in Lucknow and Shillong which seems to be difficult to convert.

Having 2 year work ex in IT and my last attempt to CAT, which college will provide best opputunities to my profile.

IIM INDORE (GEM) Merit rank: PGP= 830 PGPHRM= 657 Merit rank under category: PGP= 708 PGPHRM= 537 What are the chances of convert?

Guys need your opinion on below: Why is it that most of the top IIMs, I happened to check for Bangalore and Calcuta dont have such audited placement reports. Is IIM Udaipur trying to justify their low placement statistics with the help of audited reports when compared to other new IIMs. Their average,median packages are below Tirchy, Ranchi and even Raipur. Why is it that Udaipur is falling behind in terms of placements? Also I see Udaipur being very strict with their most of the rules like 100 percent attendance rules. Aren't these policies a little regressing in today's time. I am currently earning a fixed package of around 11 lpa and would be completing 4 years experience in the next 3 months. This is really important for me as I have to decide whether to go for Udaipur or not as thats the only convert I might have in further lists. Tirchy is waitlisted and I am not sure if I would even get it and Raipur is converted but I am not sure if it's a good choice.

The number of women directors appointed to corporate boards in the United States has increased dramatically, but the ratio of female to male directors remains low. Although pressure to recruit women directors, unlike that to employ women in the general work force, does not derive from legislation, it is nevertheless real.

Although small companies were the first to have women directors, large corporations currently have a higher percentage of women on their boards. When the chairs of these large corporations began recruiting women to serve on boards, they initially sought women who were chief executive officers (CEO’s) of large corporations. However, such women CEO’s are still rare. In addition, the ideal of six CEO’s (female or male) serving on the board of each of the largest corporations is realizable only if every CEO serves on six boards. This raises the specter of director over-commitment and the resultant dilution of contribution. Consequently, the chairs next sought women in business who had the equivalent of CEO experience. However, since it is only recently that large numbers of women have begun to rise in management, the chairs began to recruit women of high achievement outside the business world. Many such women are well known for their contributions in government, education, and the nonprofit sector. The fact that the women from these sectors who were appointed were often acquaintances of the boards’ chairs seems quite reasonable: chairs have always considered it important for directors to interact comfortably in the boardroom.

Although many successful women from outside the business world are unknown to corporate leaders, these women are particularly qualified to serve on boards because of the changing nature of corporations. Today a company’s ability to be responsive to the concerns of the community and the environment can influence that company’s growth and survival. Women are uniquely positioned to be responsive to some of these concerns. Although conditions have changed, it should be remembered that most directors of both sexes are over fifty years old. Women of that generation were often encouraged to direct their attention toward efforts to improve the community. This fact is reflected in the career development of most of the outstandingly successful women of the generation now in their fifties, who currently serve on corporate boards: 25 percent are in education and 22 percent are in government, law, and the nonprofit sector.

Sala chutiy@ tum PI and WAT apne institute me kiya. Candidates apna paisa se Mumbai jake attend kiya. Process was smooth and got over well before Lockdown 1 was announced. Still after 80 days of suffering u came from nowhere with ur latest admission policy which states that the WAT has been annulled from the admission process this year. Acha yahi Bakchodi agar karna tha to result March me nikal deta. Abhi tak chutiy@ banake kyun rakha tha aspirants ko. Gandu yahan pe aspirants ka 99.9+ me bhi rejections aa raha hai. Aur 99 walo ka thoda bahut hope tha ek ache institute me MBA karne ka. Isko bhi tum ch*d diya. Sala aur kuch bol ke fayada nahin hai. This is the season of randomness. Sorry for my foul language.
