PRIORITIES EXIST xD

What could be the number of candidates called for IIM B PGP BA interview?? Since the class size will be about 75-100(They said that in the Webinar) will less candidates be called for interview? Also the interviews will be held in April 2nd Week , by that time the top IIMs will have given their results right? So can we expect less high percentile people ??? Any ideas??

When is NITIE is going to release the Calls for WAT/GD and PI?Β

Needed an exceedingly good interview for B considering my acads. Ended up with a par one. In solidarity with the affected GEMs, I skipped K. Or I was too tired after B to make a dash for K.

Should mock interviews be taken closer to the actual interview date say just one/two days before so that it helps practically or should it be taken a week before the actual interview date so that it can help in working out the shortcomings.

Hi Puys, I'm done with my calls for this season i.e. SPJIMR and IIFT. Would love to help anyone who wants any kind of advice, mock-interviews etc I have been working for an investment firm for 2.5 years now. Might just ask some tricky questions on finance. Just ping if you need any kind of help and of course no costs. Just trying to give back what I've got from amazing people here. Thanks!

All The Very Best To PG's Own DJ TRUMP aka @Razorfist , For The Interview :

Third Time's the Charm : 26th February, MDI Gurgaon GD WAT PI in Hyderabad

Little background info: I gave MDI twice earlier and I did not make it through both times. One of the panelists, a lady (L) in her late 30s, was common across both the panels which were in two different cities.Β

I found, to my great amusement, she was there again in the exact same room and panel as I had been interviewed in last year as well. I had been the last to be interviewed in 2018 in Calcutta, in the afternoon slot and had got only 4-5 minutes in which she did not even look at me. That year my percentile was 97.56. The other person on the panel had left as soon as I entered and only came back after 3-4 minutes to watch me being dismissed.

The second time the PI was in Hyderabad. The gentleman with her hated Narayan Murthy and somehow spent 8-9 minutes on why Infosys does not buy startups, why Vishal Sikka was fired and why Infosys sits on cash piles while paying low salaries. L had been quiet in this one for the most part.Β

GD/WAT: Ecommerce discounts are not helping/are helping the economy (Can't remember if it was in favour or against, I gave both views and concluded on for with regulations)

Made a few good points in the GD, brought it back on track when it was going awry and overall I think I did well. Made sure to not interrupt too much.

I was again last in the panel and all other panels were over by that time. I was the last person waiting for PI. I was not quite dreading it because I am not too fussed about MDI this year, but I was weary that they would end it very soon and I would not be able to make my case well. Some of the other panelists and the verification guys came up to check if my panel was done or not, presumably to go for lunch.Β

I walked in finally, smiled at the panelists and the gentleman(G) there started with my name. There was a small discussion on that. Then the lady saw the %ile. Enquired about what calls I had and said she thought I had all calls. It shocked her that I had only C and L in the old IIMs.Β

G: If you had a time machine would you like to go back and change your grades?

L: But then he would be giving exams all his life. What is the point? (Turns to me) You don't have even Indore?Β

M: Explained the case for Indore.Β

G: Kozhikode?Β

M: Explained the case for Kozhikode.

There was a small lull in the conversation and at that point I turned to L and told her she was in my panel for the third time in three years.

L: Arre same baccha teen saal se. Tum bhi soch rahe hoge kahan harr saal fass jata hun inke sath?

M: (Laughing it off) No ma'am. Quite a bit of deja vu here. This is the same room as well. I actually did not feel very good about the time in Calcutta. My PI ended in 4-5 minutes. I think the panel had not had lunch and I was the last in the second half at 4:30 PM.Β

G: No no the time you are in a PI for does not make a difference. I think your profile and marks would have been weak that year.

M: Yes sir I had 97.56 and no workex. I think I had very few things to talk about but I felt a little sorry about that. I have added things to talk about since then hopefully, worked for nearly 18 months now and improved my score as much as I could.Β

L: Arre iss saal ho hi jaega tumhara don't worry (laughs).

This in itself would have taken up about 5-6 minutes. The people just before me had PIs for less than 10 minutes each. I was expecting it to end soon after this statement.Β

Then it descended into Tell me about yourself, then the economy, my hobbies, Delhi riots and the CAA. No point detailing those things anyway, you can imagine what the questions were like.Β

After some time, G said he had a final question and asked me to define myself. I said I could try and do it in three words. He said we can start with that. I said - Honest. Hopeful. Consistent. Then he took me to task on honesty and whether it is the right thing to do in the corporate world. Had to say that I am not rigid and white lies are a part of life sometimes even in the corporates. Gave a few examples of white lies in real life and in the workplace. Cracked a few jokes with G because he was taking the examples very lightly. Β Finally G says he is done.Β

L: So how was your C interview?

M: I cannot judge it fully ma'am. I know I did all I could and I am happy I was able to give my best shot. I will find out how it went when the results are out.

L: I think we are done.Β

G: Yes, thank you.

M: Thank you sir. (Get up and turn to L as I was getting off the chair) It was very nice to see you again ma'am. (Almost laughed out, grinning too much)

L: (Laughs out) Yes yes, you too. Thank you.Β

M: Thank you.Β

Walk out grinning. They took my PI for almost 20 mins. Faith in hard work and honesty reaffirmed.Β

Calcutta 2018, Hyderabad 2019: Avenged.Β

I had my WAT PI on 25th feb for iim indore at mumbai centre. WAT was good. but i was asked too many quetions in my pi like; my introduction, study related quetions from bachelor, chemistry, maths, GK, Polity, Business.. all of it and ending with extempore on renewable energy. Around 20 minutes long... So asking so many quetions is it a good thing or bad??? i answered almost all quetion except one that was of business... PLZ Share your views... it will help a lot..
