We have to upload gradesheets in IIMA form but I haven't received the physical copy of gradesheet for the semester that ended in December but i have the email with all the grades and updated CGPA.. Should I upload a screenshot of the email as the proof of my current cgpa?
I have two doubts regarding the IIM L form:-
1. Can we just club our two semesters into one year and show the marks year wise ? This isn't just for Lucknow, but for other forms as well.
2. Do we still have to fill the workex till 31st July only or should we update it till today ? Acc. to CAT form it is 1 month , but now it has been 7 months, so if we can update it'll get me some extra points.
A lot of people here are complaining about the entire MBA process. Lemme talk about the process
1. CAT is not JEE: The idea that single exam gives everything is rooted in the Indian Education System primarily due to JEE, CAT is not that. CAT follows similar process as GMAT. Have you heard someone say I got a 780/800 in GMAT, still didn't get into Harvard. No? Because it is an accepted fact, GMAT Score doesn't guarantee you a seat. You give GMAT to meet the eligibility criteria. Its similar with CAT.
2. The Academic profile fiasco: A lot of people including me have suffered because of low academic scores (88/86/6.7 / 99.81%ile -> No call from A & L). Its very easy to say that we shouldn't be at a disadvantage because of those marks. People who have been always good in their life should be judged on one day performance in a random test? And people who have been consistent performer "in a task in which they were expected to perform" is a very good criteria to assume that they will continue to do so. And more on this in next point
3. Diversity points(Academic):
a) MBA is not an engineering college, where you go and learn some science. MBA is filled with Case Studies, competitions. You need different POVs. I am glad Indian Institutes don't look in diversity in WorkEx like the foreign universities, or people like me and thousands others who work in IT are screwed but would it be wrong for them to do it, absolutely not !
b) Colleges are trying to deliver a certain kind of graduates and hence fine tune their admission criteria to ensure they can do that which also includes the academic profile. Engineers are already more than 50% (sometimes going as high as 80%) in all the MBA colleges (thanks to our Indian Education System) and that hugely hampers the kind of opinions that come into a class, the kind of experience that they bring into the class is largely similar.
c) I find it heavily condescending towards non-engineers when certain people equate CAT with smartness/intelligence etc. CAT is a heavily biased paper towards engineers. I studied nothing and gave the test last year and got 98.32%ile. This year I gave a few AIMCATs and analysed them, i got 99.81%ile because I did this thoroughly during JEE, the part of the brain that needs to work for CAT was always active for me during my engineering and expecting an arts student to be competent in this is the same as judging a monkey by its ability to swim.
4. Diversity points (Gender): After reading the the above points, if you are telling girls dont have different opinions/POV to certain issues than guys than I think you are delusional. MBA universities usually try to maintain a equal ratio of gender when the applicant pool is equally distributed and because its not, diversity points are given to ensure there is atleast a decent number of girls in the class so that their opinions matter, so that their POVs are heard.
5. WorkEx: This happens to be a very simple idea, if you don't know what is corporate life. I am not sure how you can know how to manage in one.
[EDIT 1] 6. Overetimating how good a percentile is: Just to put it out there 99%ile is good but not good enough to expect a call from the country's best. 99%ile means All India Rank of 2100. Its like in JEE, you get this rank and then expect IITB's Comp Science. Combine this with all other points above and you will realise why even 99.5%ile is not good enough to get into the best college in the country which barely has 400 seats for everyone.
The best part about these criterias were they were transparent, all colleges have different criterias, that means I get a shot at C. Its all quantitative, that means I knew before hand with the data, 99.7 would give me a call from Calcutta, 99.99 would give me a call from Ahmedabad, and I should forget Bangalore exists.
Reservation for Caste: Thats a government policy, its been there since before you were born and will be there after you die (I hope not). Everybody's known it since long, we saw it during our engineering and will probably see it again when our kids come into picture. So just suck it up. Insulting reservation candidates is completely wrong, because most of you would take reservation without blinking if you could. (As a statement, I didn't apply under EWS when I could).
TL;DR: None of the criterias implemented by colleges are unfair/discriminatory. If anything we need better system at JEE level, and improve our non-engineering education system. Because IIMs still happen to be one of the best in the world in what they do, and I am sure they know better than us.
[EDIT 2]: Both @DanielBryan and @sword_45 have raised amazing points regarding Academic Diversity in comments. So answering that,
Response to @DanielBryan's comment:
Is 95 better than 90? Can't say ! In many cases yes, and in many cases no. But the "holier than thou" attitude when saying that rote learning was involved everywhere is wrong. There is a reason why there are interviews because you cannot put a mathematical formula on who is good. And this is exactly the reason why we have an interview because 95 may not be better than 90. Thats the reason calls are usually sent out to 4 times than the actual capacity. IIMs have already accounted for 75% error in their selection criteria.
Response to @sword_45's comment: Again they need the different kind of students, filling the entire class with Engineers doesn't accomodate the purpose of the college or MBA. So in Engineers category is CAT biased towards people who have studied and worked hard during their JEE and college days? Definitely. And using just an exam to judge something is what I feel is wrong. We honestly need to blame the JEE system and our engineering college which have trained us to work for something once and you can forget all your past mistakes. Do actions have consequences, yes ! And that is a world where I am happy to live in, however old or new.

A one-stop-shop for all the interview questions asked in interviews: This repository is being created for the benefit of all the aspirants who are preparing for any interviews (IIM, other B-schools, internships, jobs, etc.) The questions have been picked from excerpts of candidates who have appeared for the IIM interviews. How to best utilize this repository? The repository has been divided into different types of questions. It is suggested to prepare all of them simultaneously by reading 6-7 questions from each type daily and thinking what would have been your response. The different types are shared below: 1. Hometown Questions 2. General Awareness Questions 3. Hobby Questions 4. Trick Questions 5. HR Questions 6. Institute Questions 7. Witty Responses 8. WAT Related Questions How often will the repository be updated? Scanning through the experiences may take time and hence my intention is to keep the repository live even if it has only 6-7 questions in each type. I'll try to add 6-7 to each category every day so that you have enough material to go through daily. You may decide to keep checking it on a daily/weekly basis for updates.
